I did some google research on free producing software and im still not entirely sure on what to work with, so i ask you /g/ what is the best free producing software out there? particularly for complete beginners.
should i just actually start with garageband or is that a meme?
Isn't there some board for music stuff? How would anyone of us know about what's best for a niche software product?...
I mean... Install Gentoo... That'l solve your problem.

They are just snobs... Like we are on programming languages, Operating system architecture (everyone complaining about SystemD) and software licenses (make sure it's free as in freedom).

Don't think there are good producing software that are free, mate
At the risk of getting flamed by rms loving /g/tards, producing software is the one area where foss does not excel at
Your best bet is to pirate the producing software you feel most productive with, or at least want to try using
There's no foss DAW that's really competitive with the main "professional" DAWS, best bet is Reaper, it's free (gratis) and works excellent with wine. Strangely it works better on my linux partition than my windows despite being the same hardware

Jeskola Buzz might still be available for Linux, if you're into the whole techno and tracker thing. If you want a real DAW, Ardour5 is, I'm told, getting decent. REAPER is inexpensive, not free, and a native Linux port is in the works and coming along nicely.
