if you tried to build a similar PC you'd be spending around that sort of money so no, it's a good price to pay.

Also, there's nothing wrong with 'gaming laptops' because they perform at 90-95% the levels that a similar PC would perform. The people who demonize them are those who read stories of kids burning them up from playing games while in bed, etc.

If you literally need something for school literally buy a potato laptop or chromebook, and the rest of the money you can spend on your own PC that will have even better performance for all the actual work you need to do.

Just get a razor blade stealth, it's got the same specs in a Mac book form factor. I had a big laptop like that when I was in school and hated it after a month

um, there's no point to have a shitbook and a different PC unless you just have to have two different computers

you can plug monitors into your PC, along with keyboards and mice and run programs at exactly the same performance (albeit the fans are louder on a laptop)

my brother bought a Razer laptop with a GTX1060 when he flew across the country to demonstrate VR to all of us and it was a great idea.

i wouldn't pay that much for a laptop for 'school' and you're obviously using this is an excuse for a gayman laptop, but fuck me in the ass that's a nice laptop and will be useful for a very very long time assuming you warranty the fuck out of it.

but for actual 'work' get a used hp probook or something similar off ebay/craigslist/letgo etc.

Do NOT buy this for school. You will regret it. Buy something like a surface pro, an LG gram, or a Dell XPS 13. You're at school to be PRODUCTIVE, not to play PUBG. If you want to game, buy a console for a TV in your dorm. It'll help separate gaming from productivity.

for that price you can get a $120 thinkpad that will do everything you need it to do for school, and then use the rest of that money to build a pc that is better and will last longer do to your ability to upgrade it in the future.
