Budgie or Mate?

xmonad w/ dmenu & xmobar

No need to thank me.

Mate.
>>
>>61821425
Not OP, but may I ask: Is it a matter of preference or there's something with budgie that you don't like?

Budgie. It just werks and is cozy

Windows like an actual adult that has a job.
>>

I dual boot Windows 8.
>>
>>61821531
budgie is incredibly new and unstable, sometimes the "panel" that makes up what everyone else calls a taskbar will suddenly become detached from the side of the display that I have it stuck to, and just go somewhere else randomly, or just disappear altogether.
>>
why is the thinkpad trackpoint scrolling, even at maximum, so slow in solus mate

Budgie. The mate one was more demanding the last time I tried it. Budgie only uses like 300MB total ram.

No.

I haven't had any issues with mine at all.

I recommend giving it a try though, to see for yourself.

you're getting creative there Kevin

Budgie works great for me, I use it on my laptop.

Even gets decent battery life, almost 5 hours on an elitebook 2170p.
>>
>>61823408
When the hell did they patch SMB? As I understand it EternalBlue still isn't fixed.
>>
Why would you install a distro known for their house DE and not use said house DE?
>>
>>61824832
They've made lots of improvements to mate too, like the brisk menu.
>>
>>61821406
Budgie because I love parrots

Fuck off kevin
>>
>>61824832
Which is their house DE?
>>
>>61821406
Budgie is as comfy as solus gets
>>
>>61824832
Fast boot times, rolling release model, easy to install proprietory junk like Chrome or Sublime.
>>
>>61830693
Which is this about, mate or budgie?

Which is the house DE
>>
>>61821406
Why the hell would anyone install that meme distro? If you want memes, install Gentoo. If you just want to use your PC, install Ubuntu of Fedora.
>>
>>61821412
How it compares to i3wm?
I'm using i3 for a year or so...
What xmonad has that i3 doesn't?
>>
>>61821406
not gnome, that's for sure
>>
>>61821406
Cancer or AIDs?
>>
>>61830816
As a normie who is just browsing and word processing, what does it matter if I use Solus or Ubuntu? Especially if the DE was the same across both, what would the disadvantage to solus be
>>
>>61821406
> Solus
I mean, seriously.
>>
>>61830810
Gnome, actually. I find it to be the most polished DE at the moment. I also like that it's keyboard driven and can be easily customised through the extension. Bungie still has that amateurish feel and MATE is just useless (it's not very lightweight and not very stable)
