Not surprised by the reactions, but its funny how little windows has changed over the years. The UX is a bit better in some ways and a bit worse in others but the actual code (at least NT kernel onward) has remained mostly unchanged.
I've been going through the NT4 leaked source code for win32k and some RPC/DCOM stuff and comparing it to the disassembly of an up to date with windows 10 install and there is barely any change in most functions. And this is mostly code written between 1991 to 1996.

26. i'm pretty sure win95 was my first OS but i was aware of DOS because my dad owned a computer store so i was exposed to computing earlier than i can even remember. i remember my mom showing me how to save data on floppy disks. i was writing a terrible harry potter fan fiction (but i didn't call it a fan fiction) and saving it on a floppy disk that i kept under my bed.

but a 17 year old girl told me that i was "so old" when i was at a hostel last weekend...

Pic was the first PC we had in the family. It ran Windows95 and came with Moto Racer. I remember playing UT99 and the BEASTLY Trespasser at like 20 fps on this thing.

I still keep the PC, monitor and keyboard that came with it, but the old mechanical mouse broke many years ago since such things were prone to wear and tear.

I'm in my 30s. I grew up using a 133 MHz Pentium with 16 MB of ram and a 28.8k modem that I upgraded to 56.6k eventually. I think the video card was 8 MB AGP but I'm not positive.

When I finally built my first PC when I was 15 it had an Abit motherboard, 1 GHz Thunderbird AMD CPU and a 32 MB AGP video card. The craziest part of my build is that I put 512 MB of sdram in it which was insane at the time.

It was an amazing PC for the time, I put Windows 2000 on it and never upgraded my os until many years later when I eventually switched to Windows 7.

I remember playing the Sims on windows 98, only because we were poor when I was a kid. My first PC ran Windows XP... In 2009.

Maybe its just that ive always used old shit. Hell, my main computer is from 2003, I havr a laptop as old as I am and I keep a desktop thats 30 years old.

But even then, that desktop isn't complicated. Big ass power switch on it.

I'm turning 30 in less than a month. I'm graduating uni this year as well. I'm on the cusp of either finally making something out of my life, or failing horribly and realizing the last 5 years were a mistake of wasted effort. I'm also starting to realize I have about 10-15 years left to decide if I want kids before I'll be too old to realistically see them grow up. Fuck getting older.
