Is it wrong I still use a Vizio E321VL as a monitor with an HDMI cable? I know it's outmoded but I've played Overwatch competitive on this and a top-o-the-line monitor my buddy got last week, can't see any difference. He has a better gpu than me as well.

Come on, it's not *that* slow -
Ok it's a little slow, I admit, but does the increase in response time justify a $400+ price tag if you're not in mlg?
Use what works. I gamed on a no name 1366x768 32" tv that was 2 feet from my face for a while because i didnt give a shit.

I'm new to this. Is it supposed to be closer or farther than 2 feet? I assume closer, but just want to make sure.

1366x768 at that size is like looking through a screen door. Even 15" at that resolution is dogshit.

Just go with what ever works. I also had a 32 inch 1366x768 tv 2 feet away as a montior, I used VGA instead of HDMI because the processing it did to the image when using HDMI made it look really shitty.
It's a low dpi at that size but if it works for you no reason to listen to >>61773059 or similar

$400 dollars isn't even a lot for a monitor and is probably towards the bottom end of what I'd consider seeing as I want at least 144hz and gsync
>freesync
not all freesync is created equal and amd does not compete with nvidia at the top end of gpus
what too-o-the-line monitor did your buddy have, exactly?
