>oh you fucking idiot. if that were the case, people would be dropping dead every day. guess what, we don't.

This.

How many people ACTUALLY die from something a better plug could have prevented?

In fact I'll bet more people die from stepping on a loose power plug and then slipping and falling on their head, than from anything related to electricity.

Anyone who has ever died from sticking a fork in a plug socket, or anyone who ever died from their fingers slipping and making contact with the prongs while it was still half plugged in. Sure it's not like millions of people are dying because of it, but don't act like your plugs aren't worse.

You're assuming they jam the fork into two holes at once.

If they jam it into phase and neutral or phase and ground at the same time, then yes. If it just jams into phase then they become the circuit to ground.

Regular chargers work fine, the iBook g4 charger, which was used in other models as well, is heavy and likes to fall out of sockets, even power bar if the shift enough. Of course it doesn't help when you have loose sockets. A fix for it however was an extension cable you could get for it.

>>
>>61773417
They're simple and take very little space, can pair up many of them for the same space.
>>
>>61776173
There are adapters for those.

Anyway, they are the same sockets. America has largely replaced/upgraded to having earthed sockets as standard while in Japan it's still standard to not have the earth pin (they're more found in particular areas that need them, like around water or outdoors), but on the other hand Japan has standardized whole house RCD, so the lack of an earth is less of a problem.

I have only known that typical americuck houses are made of spit and sawdust
I genuinely believed in the 21'st century all houses across the world used bricks by now.

And as for grenfell whoever decided covering all the UK tower blocks with plastic sheets and insulation when they were designed over haf a century ago to contain fires per flat it just goes to show the stupidity of modern architecture!

What is this fucking world we live on!?

> I'm still unable to fix it because all I have is a tiny screwdriver.
Buy a bunch of screwdrivers or screwdriver bits then? Wera and PB swiss make nice ones, but you might also be fine with something cheap. Maybe even Chinese ones.

Ultimately the problem isn't that you don't have insulated screwdrivers but that you didn't flip the fuse, which you ALWAYS should do when messing with installed electrical devices where you can't pull the plug.

ive worked on electrical engineering projects before where ive had to nigger rig a ground into a plug for safetey reasons.

actually, one time kinda similar when I was rewiring a shitty guitar I bough I noticed that the string and metal components on it were not grounded. this makes it act as a giant antenna and will literally pick up different radio stations when you hit different strings (I could hit a high e string and pick up mexican radio, or hit a b string and it would switch stations to other mexican radio)

So i alligator clipped the a string from behind the bridge to the metal case on the guitar jack to ground my instrument.

In my old middle school, in one of the older buildings would have these bad boys all over the place but with the box more covered. They'd go from the ceiling to about waste high on the walls. I remember one really bord kid was playing with one with a pencile since it was right next to his desk and the next thing he know or saw was a spree of sparks spraying all over his desk and on the floor. Laugh my ass off hard that day. Damit I grew up in a poor as fuck school.

>>61781165
You get to always have the phase on the same prong.
No turning around has -some- advantages.
And we use the slim one without ground for smaller things that are double insulated anyways.
>>
>>61779632
>Are you telling me that an american house can only run on little over 1kw?
It depends on the circuits. I have 20A breakers myself.
Most of the cheap multitaps only support 10-15A max.
You can also add another phase and get 220V for a circuit with something like aircon or your oven on it.
>>
>>61786387
Standard recommended for new construction in a kitchen is a 50A 240V for the oven/range, 2 20A 120V for smaller appliances, and 2 15A 120v for various other outlets and lighting fixtures.
>>

The stats are mostly referring to 18 year old black "kids" killing each other over drugs and territory. This all happens in shithole inner city projects built by liberals to support the disenfranchised African American community.

As for actually child age children? It's not the guns you need to worry about, it's the car, medicine cabinet and pool. A child is far, far more likely to get run over, drown or poison themselves than get shot.

The problem is it takes twice as long to boil the same amount of water as a european kettle

220v vs 120v

220v at 15A however is going to give you 3300w.

RCD/GFCI are complex and expensive compared to grounding. I've been in many houses ~20 years old where the interruptor on every single protective device has failed closed and nobody noticed. Further, lots of equipment was designed with the availability of an earth ground in mind for noise shielding. Simply adapting 3->2 prong is a brain dead reduction in protection.
