If you have a dx12 gpu, you should be running windows 10 ltsb 2016. If you don't have a dx12 gpu, use windows 7.

Yes, well, certain games are only distributed via the Windows store and require DirectX 12 to run. Older games that won't run on anything newer than Windows XP can be virtualized easily. This makes Windows 10 the best version of Windows for gaming, seeing as there are games that you cannot play on any other version of Windows.
