I have a situation, I am trying to convince my parents to get smart lights for the house and they keep rejecting, I think this might be for 2 reasons
1. We have some other smart stuff (thermostats, Tesla) and my dad takes it upon himself to look at what we are doing and bitch and have a baby fit if he doesn't like what we are doing at all time
2. my parents are around 50 and don't know how to use new technology
please help me
i suggest graduating highschool

"Champ, I know how hard it must've been for you to step out of your comfort zone and apply to all those places. Go up there and ask for the manager. Stand up straight, look him in the eye, give him a firm handshake, and tell him you wanna work there. That simple, Champ."

How about this: Move out and buy your own house and put fucking smart lights in it.

Your parents are right. Don't get botnet lights.

I'm seeing someone, don't have a degree. Own house, car, on my way to buy a second house and long ass two month vacation by the end of the year.
It seems to me that you are a fucking piece of shit failure OP. Stop making excuses, get off your ass and then buy whatever the shit you want to buy, no need to ask mommy and daddy.
Sometimes it's best to not push new technology, or convince someone they may or may not need something.
If they whine about having to manually turn off lights, suggest smart light/alexa solutions, but there's no need to convince them into fixing a problem that may not exist for them. Buy your own smart crap for your room, with your own money, and leave it at that.
