i guess my 400watt psu will be enough. coolermaster's calculator says 422watt psu is enough for the 1080ti that has a 250watt tdp and the system peaks at 350watt. vega56 has a 210watt tdp so 400 watt must be more than enough. thanks /g/
>>
>>61720058
The only reason to buy a Vega 56(aftermarket) is to get that 25% OC over stock, which would even make a OCd 1080 sweat.

So no, that PSU is only enough if you run at lolstock.

Rx580 gets 29 MH at 70~90w depending on model

Each card cost minimum $250, that's $750 for 90MH at 250w.

If Vega gets 100MH for $499 at 300w (before undervolting) don't expect the card to be in stock, ever. It's also a flagship card so reselling will be tremendously easier.

I wonder what changes they made though. Frontier edition only got 50MH with no room for improvement. Doesn't all Vega models use HBM?

It's almost like half the uarch features were disabled in drivers or something. Who could have anticipated such a thing?!
>>
>>61720133
It is harmful, trust me. It's not just that the card is running 100% all of the time it's also moisture in the air. I have seen ex mining cards and they make nothing. Seen 390s sell for £40 because they squealed and the solder joints had turned white from going dry. All that heat cooks the flux and makes it dry out and harden etc. The black PCB had gone white too.

So yeah, it buggers hardware. Well, not so much the hardware but the components. When Nvidia and AMD design VRMs they do not design them to run at 100% all of the time. Even when gaming your GPU gets a few breaks from cut scenes/loading etc.

It'll sell like hotcakes it that's actually true. I tried find the actual power draw in the article but they don't actually say - so we can only guess from TDP. 100 mh/s at 300W would be amazing.

>>61716861
That's would be their own fault for making garbage cards. They can put big real solid heatsinks on them and double bearing fans instead those garbage fans that go bad after a month and not get RMAs or sell garbage and get RMAs.

If your car breaks down after 3 months then there's no point in trying to argue that you should have kept it in your garage and not used it to drive around when you demand your money back.

How the hell does Vega64 get 100mh if Vega FE only got 50mh?

As far as we know the Vega64 is slightly slower than the FE, comes with half the memory, HBM is """supposedly""" bad for mining, and the driver features we know to be disabled are for rendering, not compute.

So compute performance should be same as Vega FE, not TWICE as high.

Tensor core not fp8
http://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-tensor-core-tesla-v100,34384.html

The new mixed-precision cores can deliver up to 120 Tensor TFLOPS for both training and inference applications. According to Nvidia, V100’s Tensor Cores can provide 12x the performance of FP32 operations on the previous P100 accelerator, as well as 6x the performance of P100’s FP16 operations. The Tesla V100 comes with 640 Tensor Cores (eight for each SM).

You're going to get the "secret features" spammer to return. We got 1070 performance spammer, secret features spammer, 400 watts spammer. Lots of wastes of space that shit up every possible conversation about this GPU.

I can't help it, this puzzle is way too interesting to me. This rumour would appear to support one of the rumoured explanations for why Vega appears to have a severe memory bandwidth regression compared to Fiji.

I will die laughing if that rumour ends up being correct, incidentally.
>>
>>61727663
whats up with you wanting everyone to kill themselves? you have hostility issues bro
>>
>>61727781
It's only reserved for the dumbest serial shitposters that ignore all evidence and pollute literally every thread with the same garbage without end. See: IMG_xxxx, BR glueeater, etc.
>>
>>61727793
you have to remember that a real person is behind the screen bro. how would you feel if one of us actually killed ourselves? not good I'd hope

Why should AMD care?

Personally I'd be thrilled if one of the morons who spent several hours a day on here shitting up every thread on a subject actually killed themselves. Even better if they all did.

Intelcucks on suicide watch.

You ever seen that episode of spongebob where the squid goes to live with everyone like himself and then he ends up being really bored? thats you

In gayming 1080 is about 15% faster than 1070.

fuck off with your delirium, fucking minelet.
>>
>>61727875
I don't want agreement, I wan't actual arguments rather than mindless shitposting repeated in every thread on the same subject every day for months at a time.

During the Ryzen launch that IMG_XXXX.jpg faggot was literally spamming ~50 posts a thread shitposting using the exact same images and comments, all day every day for WEEKS.

well then convince AMD to release benchmarks and driver info if you want actual discussion. You don't think we are tired of the "just wait ;)" ad nauseaum and the overblown hype.
>>
>>61727951
if they had a working driver they would have released already
also amd releasing benches? yeah who would have believed them even if they are correct

>Crypto currency is essentially FIAT money that isn't controlled or printed by a central bank.
And a currency that the central bank won't allow to get a foothold in the greater society. Crypto is like baseball cards. They have no real except to collectors.
>>
>>61718147
>because miners run them 24/7 at 100% and cards die fast

It's not a mechanical device you dipshit. Well, the fan is but that's easily replaceable.

Using grenades that kinda look like psu there's a burning smell and have to be replaced. You brought this on yourself.

tfw swedish and russian governments approved bitcoin for their central bank transfers

tfw denmark and probably neaderlands are next

The whole idea of fiat currency is that there is nothing (or very little) physically backing it. Fiat currencies like Bitcoin or the Dollar have value because people perceive it to have value.

People value Bitcoin as a currency for the exchange of goods / services, therefore it has value.

The real problem with Crypocurrencies IMO is that they are extremely volatile and investing in one is basically speculation. Most governments also aren't fond of currencies that they can't control.

No Vega for me...

Good luck with that
>>
For anyone considering not pre-ordering and buying after you have seen the benchmarks I would advise against it. Just pre-order and if you don't like the benchmarks cancel/send it back or sell it on for profit to miners.

>buying reference cards
Time to stop

What the status on mining specific GPUs?

NVidea and AMD shuld launch them and them update drivers to make mining impossible on regular GPUs
>>
I plan on buying a few. Keeping maybe one for myself and selling the others on for profit.

I'm seriously considering a V56 reference because I know there will be water blocks available. EK also said that they are releasing a TR water block. While I currently have a Ryzen 7 1700x I'm considering getting an 8c threadripper and grabbing a bigger one later. Use my current Ryzen as a small server to replace my FX-8350 server.
