I will not purchase a phone that does not have mSD, removable battery, and a head phone jack.

Welp, looks like I'm skipping this gen. I feel this is by far one of the most dense and out of touch decisions they could have made. No reason to upgrade anyway; Pixel 1.0 is still incredibly snappy and the battery life is still great.

No. Why? If you're challenging the fact they use macs then look up how they manage like 40,000 macs or whatever. They were cool back when they used Linux boxes but now everyone there is a fucking hipster macfag cuck

I get that they want to accomplish in size reduction,
but can someone explain to me why they haven't increased the number of USB-c data ports (which can fit without size increasing, or why they haven't built a headphone jack that can use USB-c ports?

It wasn't really a selling point as it was a deliberate poke of fun at Apple. Their biggest selling point was the "made by Google" slogan, giving shit to OEMs that can't manage their products' software.

Did you know that Nexus 5 is the best phone ever made? It's pretty obvious when you think about it.
Android is the best mobile OS.
Nexus was the best lineup of Android phones (until Google killed it).
And Nexus 5 is the best Nexus phone. Sure, the newer Nexus models have better specs, but all of them have some disadvantages when compared to Nexus 5 - like the screen size, starting price, or the new "self-destruction" feature, that was introduced in Nexus 5X.
And Nexus 5 was almost perfect. Even Google admitted it. They said that Nexus 5 was the best selling Nexus device of all time.

I love when technology brings you back to the stone Age.
>>
Thank god.

Now they can make the phone thinner. The Pixel was hilariously thick. Arguably unusable as it was not possible to hold a device that thick.

Alternatively they can make the battery fucking huge now. Once the iPhone ditched the headphone jack, they freed up space for the battery, and battery life rose by 500%. Don't you remember?

Well, if the battery doesn't change, I'll just continue using external mobile battery connected via USB-C. Of course now without a headphone jack, I'll have to use a dongle splitter, so I can charge my battery and use my headphones at the same time.

Thank you Google!

>>
>>61718260

>Where did the smartphone market go so, so wrong?

It went wrong when Apple entered it. And of course, the mainstream media literally defied Jobs(even when he was alive)

Even the PC market has suffered. We have laptops with no removable battery, replaceable RAM, or optical disk drivers, and even WORKSTATIONS are being built in a similar manner.

No headphone jack, no sale.

>>61712620
I will. I have the same ideal requirements as you but I do buy cheap Chinese phones with a non-removable battery. If it was a $1000 phone then it would be different but on a $140-200 phone it's fine. Part of my reasoning is that there's always been a better phone that I've bought before I've worn out a battery. Also, I actually looked for a extra battery when I had the Lenovo K3 Note (to swap it out as an alternative to a powerbank) and I couldn't find any (original and working) batteries for sale anywhere.

SD card slot and a headphone jack are requirements, though - for now, anyway.I could probably forgo a SD card slot if the phone came with something like 512GB onboard storage. I'm never buying one without a headphone jack, though.

>bluetooth has been shit forever
>no viable wireless solution with high quality audio because companies have become complacent with the headphone jack
>remove headphone jack, force companies to innovate

WOW, APPLE AND GOOGLE ARE SO EVIL!!

>no you don't get it, apple just wants to sell airpods and force you to buy them!

And everyone still has the option to use bluetooth.
>>
>>61712443
Well is there at least some kind of analog audio out? I have devices whose inputs are designed to take analog audio in. Many of these devices don't have the software to properly interface with a phone to pull off digital audio nor the DAC to properly convert it to analog. This kind of shit will completely deprecate all manner of hi-fi equipment.
>>
>>61720895
I use buds
>>
>>61721009
There will be dongles to 3.5mm so the signal must be analog.

Gotta buy those ((("premium"))) wireless earbuds now plebs.

Pretty soon every phone maker will do it because monkey see, monkey do!
>>

Could you at least use your brain?
>>
>>61721201

Wow, why are they doing this??
>>
>>61721227
Just like with real keyboards vs chicklets in laptops, this will eventually cause autism to kick in and people to intentionally choose older phones, ultimately hurting the manufacturers.

Why do you think Chang comes in and bellyaches in every /tpg/ thread?

Because 1,000 autists online are buying old thinkpads instead of new ones? I bet that's really hurting them.

Certainly.

>Over ear headphones these days can have over 40 hours of battery life. Is that 'complete ass' to you?

yeah, especially when my wired headphones have unlimited battery life because they don't even have batteries.

also using said Bluetooth ruins battery life on my phone, plus add on to the fact that streaming kills battery life too because "lol everyone streaming now grandpa why you wanna download music?"
>>
>>61721365
>bluetooth ruins battery on my phone
What kind of chink android phone do you have? Nobody fucking streams, they download within whatever service they are using.
>>
>>61721404
It doesn't matter who your phone's manufacturer is nor what OS it runs, Bluetooth will drain the battery faster than using non-shit headphones.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of the fact that USB was able to transmit ANALOG FUCKING SIGNALS. What the fuck is wrong with people?

this

rather than realize what the true intentions are (DRM implementations, proprietary audio products that will need to be licensed to work, etc) this board would rather parrot on about muh specz

truly, this is the mark of neo/g/
>>
>>61721509
>>just use usb-c it's so much better

am I the only one that doesn't like usb-c? for me the plug doesn't fit snuggly and I have to keep the cable at just the right angle or it won't connect. too many times times I woke up to an almost dead battery because the cable got nudged and it didn't charge.
>>
Is there an android equivalent of this?
>>
>>61714094
>muh thin fashion accessory
>>
>>61721556
DRM isn't even the worst part. It's the fact that my headphones now need a fucking dac and amp. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY. I wish this was the 70s. Fuck digital.

>>61721564
This is exactly what I mean. WHY WOULD I WANT AN EXTERNAL DAC? THIS ISN'T A DESKTOP!

Why doesn't Apple make the AirPods capable of charging via Lightning with cables directly on them and allow to use them at the same time as they're charging?
This would be better than charing them in a case.

Every LG phone has bootloop issues
>>
>>61721281
It's actually hurting a lot, part of the issue is that a 10 year old computer is just fine for 99% of normies too.

Normies never buy a new laptop until theirs breaks. Autists would buy a new laptop if there was one worth buying.

Stay cucked though.

The great thing about the free market is everyone can have what they want. My crazy uncle can have his Jitterbug phone because smart phones are a conspiracy to sap and impurify. My brother can have his bloatware Samsung shitphone because for some reason there are ACTUALLY people who like Samsung unironically. You can have your retarded "hacker" phone with 3 separate kinds of removable storage, a built in tube amplifier, a projector, an iomega zip drive, and a lead acid battery. And the general public, myself included, will embrace properly waterproofed phones with a minimum of physical connection points.

Eventually most resisters will realize they were dumb, and go with the flow. Some like you will pull a Terry Davis and make a spectacle of themselves. It is a free country, you may do what makes you happy. I prefer to ride to work with my phone in my jersey pocket whether it's raining or not.
