Why doesn't your processor have 32 threads?
Does 32 threads total on two CPUs count?
https://youtu.be/m31sVyHT9s4
I still haven't found good use for the 16 threads that my current processor has

You can tell most of /g/ only really got into desktop processors about a year or two ago.

Holy fuck, that is some amazingly bad grammar. Fuck off forever.
>>61695651
The 8 core TR is there for those who want the 64 PCIe lanes and etc. of the platform but don't need all the cores. Latency probably isn't as big of an issue for those users.
>>61695798
It's just a placeholder, it's going to be a 10 core.

Textbook duopoly. Both companies need each other to stay alive.
>>61695651
Still a more sensible choice than buying a 7700k for X299. At least the 8c16t TR isn't cucked on PCIe lanes and quad channel RAM.
>>61696006
the 1900X is already coming 21 days after the 12 and 16 core, so it's basically not placeholding anything, and there are no 10 or 20 core EPYC chips
As much as I'd love to buy a 1950X and Asus Zenith ROG board, I can honestly say with the utmost sincerity that I have no use for such a system. I have an R7-1700X and 32GB of low latency DDR4 system now and It does everything I need it to do, and then some. Encoding while gaming? No problem.
If I felt like throwing away $2500+ for the sake of bragging rights, I would in a heart beat.

Oh to dream. But I'm saving for a house :(. It's either live at home with mommy and daddy with an insane PC, or get my own place while only owning a decent PC.

>Encoding while gaming? No problem.
This is what I thought was the biggest difference with my jump from an i5 4690k to my 1700X. I tried playing overwatch while doing some 30->60fps video encoding and wouldn't have known that there was any encoding going on.
>>61696928
Yea I have a collection of 200+ blurays, god only knows how many DVDs, and then there is my collection of TV shows and anime box sets. I rip and encode all the shit myself. I was encoding all my rips while playing AAA stuff like COD or GTA 5 and no lag, hitch, or stutter.
I never got around to doing any of this encoding in the past because I always had an 8 thread i7. Encoding would lock that i7 to 100% usage and keep it there rendering the PC unusable for literal weeks on end.
Said i7 was a 6700k and even at stock, was hitting 85C under load. Meanwhile my 1700X with mild OC is under 62C on the same cooler and in the same case. Overall Ryzen was a huge leap forward for me.

Yes, Der8auer did. It's soldered though, so not much point other than to see the dies.
>>61697395
It's leftover ebyns with 2 dies broken/disabled.
