What's the best software and encryption method?

Depends on what you want.
For speed and moderate security AES, some other algorithms are safer but take way more time
There is a reason why AES and RSA are most commonly used

Such as?

Good old truecrypt before NSA went in.

openssl
AES

ChaCha
Serpent

Dm-crypt plain and Blowfish for the non-meme non-botnet NSA-safe reply

Quick question! Can a company legally encrypt it's trade secrets? Legally as in it won't be forced under any circumstances to decrypt anything.

Also, what if the said company decided to encrypt CP/other illegal material?

>Legally as in it won't be forced under any circumstances to decrypt anything.
There are lots of circumstances in which you might be forced to decrypt stuff

>Also, what if the said company decided to encrypt CP/other illegal material?
There are already cases of people who claim to have 'forgot' the password to decrypt their computers and have been held in contempt of court (in jail) until they do.

You can encrypt whatever you want, but depending on the legal circumstances you might be forced to surrender that information

So VeraCrypt is not safe? Is there any Win compatible encryption that is good?
>>
>>61675825
It never was safe in the first place anon. If you're on Windows just forget everything. It's like asking how to use a holed bottle to keep water.

There are rumors TrueCrypt was/is perfectly safe, but the NSA wanted to shut it down because they couldn't get into it. Supposedly it has been combed through multiple times and no backdoors or exploits were found.

VeraCreypt is abandonware

many people experience lockups and freezes when unmounting a veracrypt partition or container but the french faggot frog developers do nothing about it
>>
>>61676197
>>61676225
Truecrypt and Veracrypt are honeypot. You're all fool if you think govs and agencies will let people encrypt their stuff without backdoors.

So what's a good encryption program to use inside of TAILS ?
>>
>>61674648
Chacha20 is better than AES in every single way.

>There is a reason why AES and RSA are most commonly used
Because people prefer shitty things? (which is why ECDSA/DSA signatures are used)
Both AES and RSA are outdated shitte.

>>61674563
Not sure about software but as for algorithms I would say Chacha20.

no

Chacha20 is faster you dumb mongoloid.

Please, stop
For a FS I would suggest to wait for bcachefs.

Nothing is complete safe.
All OSs are backdoor-ed and for good measure all CPUs are also backdoor-ed.
Encryption protects you against normies, script kids and low level criminals.
State level players, Multinational corps and even some organized crime will get whatever they want from you if they wish it so.
>>
just use cryptomator with icloud and you'll be perfectly fine

What if you use an old trash PC and run Linux?

>>61677535

How come nobody could then with TrueCrypt, even back then? Also how come TrueCrypt was audited a million times with no major flaws found, except for the windows installer, which could easily be avoided by going Linux?

Why was TrueCrypt the only big option with a 100% chaos generated key where you had to move the mouse cursor randomly across a plate, generating the key, while all other encryption programs rely on each their individual key generation?

Those are the questions you should ask yourselves really.

VeraCrypt is great for containters, LUKS for OS.

all intel cpu's in the last decade have hardware backdoors so they don't have to go after *crypt scrubnubs
