Something with decent power behind it and temperature control. It makes everything so much easier which is especially useful if you're new to soldering. Search for "936 soldering station" on chink sites or maybe the TS100 from the last thread if you want something more portable.

He's right about just watching a youtube video though. The fundamentals are simple. Solder WANTS to flow toward and stick to hot, clean metal. Flux is key to ensure the metal stays clean during the heating process. Heat the two things you want soldered together and apply solder to the parts (not the iron). If they're hot enough the solder will wet and stick to them like glue all on its own.

I've bought two chink players. I have the Benjie T6 which plays almost any format except, sadly, Opus, and it will play them up to 24bit 96 hz.

This is the player I use myself. When my nephew was visiting he started borrowing it all the time because he really liked the idea of a portable player.

This player is expensive for a chink player at $50. It's also pretty heavy and the metal casing has a bit sharp corners. Another thing to be aware of with the Benjie T6 is that it has absolutely no internal storage space so you will totally need a SD card.

I really do like this one and use it a whole lot.

I also bought the Ruizu X02 for $15 when I saw how much my nephew likes my portable music player. It arrived when he was visiting me a bit later and he _really_ liked it. It can be bought with 4 or 8 GB internal storage, I got the 8 GB one. This player has some very clear drawbacks compared to the Benjie T6 which I immediately noticed. First of all, it doesn't even play AAC. Secondly, it will only play audio files that are 16bit 48000 hz. A CD rip to flac will therefore play just fine but a 24bit opus file converted to a 24 bit flac won't. My nephew doesn't care since he only uses mp3 files and don't know what a opus or flac file is - but it's something to be aware of.

There is zero reason to use MP3 for anything but playback of existing MP3 files today. If you want to store audio and space isn't an issue - and it mostly isn't given that 32 and 64 GB SD cards are so cheap and big HDDs are too - then FLAC is the obvious choice.

If you do have to use lossy then OPUS (the successor) is the obvious choice IF, and only IF, you just want to use it on one specific player and that one can play it. AAC (m4a) is the obvious choice for lossy in most cases.

Just search for "5.25 case drawer" on ebay or aliexpress, there's plenty of different vendors who sell these. If you buy from any vendor out of China then you'll get the same one I've got. These's actually a second type being sold out of the US and that's probably cheaper if you are these but shipping to the rest of the world from the US is as much as the case box itself so get the one from China if you're not in the US.

It doesn't stick out at all. It's the kind you have to push in to open and then it pop's out. My desktop case has a door on it so any knob or anything that sticks out wouldn't work. It doesn't stick out, as you can see it's not sticking out at all.

The only "bad" thing about those case boxes is the front of it, there's a small black text there that says "case box" and that's it. What I really would like and love would be a front that looks exactly like a standard CD/DVD drive until you push it in and it pop's out and opens.

The bigger difference is that it's got a handle to open it instead of a push-in pop's out mechanism. If your PC case has it's 5.25 bays exposed then that's probably fine, if it's got a door like the Fractal Design R5 I have then it probably won't work (since the handle part sticks out).

Both drawers will let you put USB cables and card readers and things of that nature in them so you have them handy when you need'em and they are priced similarly so it probably don't matter which you get - unless you can't have a handle because of a PC box door.

Anyone have experience with action cams? I'm looking for something that can do 2k-4k @60 fps and 1080p @120fps with a small form factor. Battery can be small with ~30mins of recording at max res and frame rate. Distortion correction and EIS arent a deal breaker but would be excellent. Something along the lines of a Yi 4k cam is what I'm looking for, but $200 is a little too much for me right now and I don't need a hi res color touch screen since it's for an FPV drone.

I guess it's time for a progress-report. I've replaced the red WASD keys as well as the arrow keys on my HyperX Alloy with the new orange double shot PBT keycaps and I've put the yellow ones on my Duck Duck Shine 5 and also replaced some of the other keys.

It's kind of hard boring work because I (ab)use 40A o-rings on both keyboards for silence on the cherry mx brown board and pure click click click typewriter-feel on the mx blue board.

Not sure how the Duck Duck Shine 5 will look in full retard RGB mode but I suspect I'll be happy with the result.

I guess I don't really have a "favorite" thing about the T6. It plays music in all formats except Opus and it's got decent but not great (like 8-10 hours) of battery life. The only big advantage over Ruizi X02 for example would be that it plays 24bit 96000hz flac files instead of making horrible sounds when trying to play anything beyond 16bit 44100hz. It's a fine player for the price but I wouldn't say it's got anything "special" that other similar players don't have.

Dude, I tell you: Check if these O-rings actually do much before you use them on all your keys. They do look very similar to some o-rings I have that are PURE GARBAGE. I very strongly suspect that this is what you've bought.

There are some stores that sell actual 40A blue o-rings on Ali Express. They are like $7 for a pack of 120. Then there's the $1/pack o-rings and I'm fairly sure that is what you bought. If this is the case then those O-rings will NOT dampen your keys much, they won't do much at all unless you use two of them on each key and that will much likely limit the key travel way too much.

In bullet summary: I suspect you screwed up and I suspect you'll regret it if you waste your time putting those flimsy white o-rings on your keycaps because you will want to take them off again later.

See my picture for a comparison between the cheap white absolutely horrifying pure garbage o-rings and the thicker 40A quality but much more expensive blue O-rings that I now use. There really is a big difference.

As far as I know Kingston only has this one HyperX Alloy keyboard and yes, there's local version of it with ISO layout (though the store were I bought it had a picture of ANSI layout and just mentioned that it had "Nordic layout" in the description). You can get it with Blue, Brown and Red switches.

If you want it then you should probably wait and see if any local store has a sale on it. It retails for 1290 SEK here and there's this local store called CDON which has it on "sale" every few weeks for 800 SEK like clockwork.

It's generally a rather nice keyboard. The drawbacks, I guess, are that it's got plain RED backlight, there's no RGB or other colors. Also, the sound of the keys bottoming out is rather loud and annoying - which is why I use 40A o-rings on mine. It's got brown switches so it barely makes any sound when you're typing - which is nice.
