i've gotten about a half dozen letters and increasingly stern emails from my ISP over the last 6 months. they never cared before, but times change.

are VPNs a solution to that and all my paranoid delusions, or is it a scam to make me pay someone $80 for slower internet?

these nords are only asking $80 for 2 years, which is pretty worthwhile to just never worry about losing my precious net connection.

if you download movies, games, porn and buy drugs online VPNs won't protect you

i'm stuck trying to read reddit, because duckduckgo keeps giving me reddit threads as the only results other than paid adverts from cnet or whatever.

i miss scroogle.

i'll give that a shot.

most search engines have poor performance for scouring asstr for specific results, these days.

Also, stop using VPNs. Just buy a VPS.
>>

A vps still has your name all over it and/or a paper trail right back to you.
If it doesnt the performance is probably shit and/or they will just drop your ass when they get a letter saying one of their servers is doing illegal shit.

with a vps you can be lost in the crowd and the owners get to say "lol sorry we dont know whos who" and they will have the bandwidth logs to prove its not just 1 person using their service.
Even if you give your friends a free vpn, with only 3 users the feds will just tell you "well find out"
>>
>>61651124
>using VPSes on VPNs for something (truly) illegal
Bad idea in the first place. Use Tor + a clean SSH proxy.
>>
The only truly secure VPN is your own, Anon. Don't trust the Nords.
>>
>>61651170
way more complicated and arguably placebo when you can get a proper VPN anonymously

i don't see any benefit to a VPS in regards to the number of actors you're trusting

that guy is pretty contradicting.
even when he points out that a vpn could probably be a honypot he fails to mention that a vps provider can snoop though your traffic, log your traffic, mitm you, and as a bonus they can even have back door access to your vps and fuck with your settings at will.

a vps provider is also more likely to drop you for "suspicious traffic". Ive seen it alot of times though acquaintances.

Only the big ones. Some provider in Romania won't give a shit.
>>
>>61651404
A VPS is by definition back doored. Take KVM. You can do a live copy of your customer's OS, chroot into it on your laptop or whatever using KVM, and you have full root access.

Probably easier ways to do this as well. I just know from the little experience I have with KVM.

good luck with buying the said VPN with money and staying "untraceable"

All torrentfreak articles are written to discourage the use of torrents and piracy in general, they create fear trough misinformation in the community.

(((they))) got torrentfreak.
>>
>>61651482
same thing for real servers and pretty much every other unecncrypted computer
>>
>>61651482
So it's still not as bad as (((VPNs))).
>>
>>61651544
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't VPNs on computers hosted by those who sell them to you?

If so, where's the difference?
>>
>>61651570
VPSes are cheaper and have more uses.
>>
>>61651593
True.
>>
>>61651170
>>61651276
it's just piracy, and getting qbit to run through tor sounds super complicated and SLOW as fuck.

>>61651491
wouldn't it simply just inform people looking that you have a VPN, not necessarily what you're using the VPN for?

oh, there's no codes or anything here...
OP here, went with PIA for a month.
literally all i want is to pirate shit and not be bothered by the ISP cutting off my service until i call and cry.
