I have a Screenvision p1-1080p projector that was previously used in a movie theater. It has a IR receiver on it but no remote. no power buttons. nothing happens when plugging in. Im assuming i will need some kind of remote that can learn the device but not sure if thats possible if i cant get it to fire up first. any help or suggestions welcome and appreciated.
Hey op, I once had a monitor like this. What I suggest doing is plugging in the projector with a mains cable (make sure it isn't from a cheap Chinese warehouse) then plug in a video source. It should detect the video source and display it.
Good luck!

I'll give that a try, should have a couple nice ones around from pc power supply.
Thanks!

Could also probably control it with that.

Im afraid im not that technologically inclined. care to elaborate..?

It's a basic analog input to allow it to be connected to a computer or similar. Generally for diagnostics, but it could also potentially be used for basic control as well, i'm unsure as i've not touched a screenvision projector in my life.
>>61648888 no luck there.
>>61649007 I will look into that, maybe i could get it to turn on by sending a signal thru the rs-232, and then once its on, program a simple universal remote to control power via IR...
May look for a description for the unit on the internet

also, i imagine the picture would be BRIGHT AS ALL FUCK, considering the size of the picture it's designed to throw versus the relatively tiny walls in your house
How easy is it to take apart? Maybe the lamp has died or been removed.

I can't find any info on this thing but I'm thinking it's a 3 chip DLP.

pretty good chance of that, if it wasn't already specified otherwise to op
high end lamps in those things probably a cost a lot, and i'd imagine would be a good excuse to upgrade for the theatre if it died
