Time to throw out you old DVI-VGA adapters, IDE drives and cables , HDD cages.
fuck me, this applies to me
I actually just had use for a IDE drive and cable. I don't hoard anything though
Its instinctual. When I was a teen in the late 90s getting any money out of my parents was like pulling teeth. I had to save for the important stuff like CPUs, RAM, mobos, and graphics cards, so whenever I got my hands on an old machine I scavenged every last screw out of it. Every fan, cable, drive, DIMM, CPU, heatsink, slot bracket, expansion card, every goddamn jumper cap. If I wasn't going to keep the PSU (like if it was a proprietary form-factor) I'd cut the wires off of it so I'd have them later if I needed to splice more connectors on. Saved a few bucks on splitter cables and shit.

DVI-VGA adapters can come in handy. IDE is shit though. HDD cages useful if you have a case that uses them.

Way ahead of you.

I had 3 gallon bags full of them. I managed to get it down to a single zip lock sandwich baggy. It was painful to throw away all those perfectly good adapters

No, fuck that mentality. Stop hoarding your shit, its weighing you down.
Whenever I throw something out I end up needing it like a month later for something

1) I use VGA-DVI adapters all the time. Very useful for attaching multiple monitors to one card or multiple computers to a single monitor.
2) IDE drives are fine for cold storage.
3) HDD cages are vital if you want to use any kind of RAID/ZFS.
