On older thinkpads you could, but newer hardware you can't… I'm gonna ask on their IRC right now because that is a good question.
>>
>>61624193
I've read is because some BIOS are write protected. But I want' to know which ones so I can skip the all "flash from external devices" thing. But I just want enough documentation to flash my t500 with my odroid, or alternatively have enough luck to libreboot with freedos (or flashrom?).
>>
>>61623910
Ok, it's what I figured. Parts of the flash chip are protected on the OS. Tehnically you could install some kind of custom bios from an OS, but you'd be stuck with part of the ME engine and a block of propreitary boot code. Using external hardware bypasses these registers.
>>
>>61624338
I would consult #libreboot on freenode. Only very very old Thinkpads can be flashed from the OS only, and the odroid doesn't have any documentation relating to libreboot. However, as I said, if you can enable SPI access on that device, it's very possible. I used a Beaglebone Black, and the process was very simple (I just had to use an outdated BBB firmware image).
>>
>>61624407
I am reading it doesn't support hardware SPI but "GPIO-based bitbanging SPI Master", do you say I can trust this? http://odroid.com/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=en:c2_dotmatrix

Also in a test mentions that while "is set to 500 KHz, it is actually operating at 390KHz". How can I reliable determine this or can I trust a slight change won't fry the motherboard?
>>
>>61624623
I'm uncertain, I'm far fron an expert on this subject. Like I said, your best bet is to ask the IRC.
>>
>>61624623
Another anon, but just reading I got what you said

>Since the C2 doesn't support Hardware SPI. This Example is using the GPIO-based bitbanging SPI Master.
>In this case, the maximum clock is about 390KHz.

Then
>Set to 500 KHz, but it is actually operating at 390KHz.

Previously says "maximum clock" so. . .

Those games will only teach you the very basic syntax of assembly and introductory concepts of registers. It will teach you nothing about memory management, which is 80% of what you end up doing in assembly.

Honestly, they're games for people who already know assembly and want to dick around with puzzles. Glossing over an online tutorial (or god forbid, a Wikihow page) for a few seconds will teach you more about asm than these games will.

Where are malware creators storing stolen data?

Every time when they transfer doc/pdf/jpg it must be stored somewhere with ip address how it happens that those severs are not seized/turned off immediately.

How they manage to stay anonymous when you can see where is data transfered with wireshark?
>>
>>61627344

>>
>>61626934
Very complete guide. Do you have one for other models and with other SBCs?
>>
>>61627355
There's no guarantee that the destination IP is where the data is actually stored. It would be extremely simple for a malware creator to set up a server that receives data and only forwards this data to their undisclosed server. Even if the public-facing server was raided, they would still have the data.
>>
>>61627420
Thanks, hope this helps since I know I struggled finding extensive guides when I got around to flashing

unfortunately I don't have any knowledge on the process for other SBCs since I was only doing this for a personal device with what I had.

If you or someone else have tips for other SBCs (or anything else) I can always add them to the bottom of the guide.

How do we keep the internet free when all governments agree to whitelist sites and protocols?

Even forming mesh networks requires social interaction. Why is there no commitment to form local mesh networks then? I am sorry but I refuse to let my answer be a simple braingasm or whatever luddite behaviour foster.

Yes, you can try to make a mesh network, shill hard certain software in the forums, incentive kickstarters about specific hardware, or at least modified routers.

At the end politics will have the power to take all that away, and you let it.

It's simple, a separate internet needs to be born, something that's decentralized and self-hosted, with relays through all the territory worldwide.
For example, anons could host their own relay on a mini pc 24/7, that could act as server and access point too, which connects other anons to other relays, similar to the way TOR works, actually imagine it like TOR but without access to the clearnet.
This network would run entirely on wi-fi so the speed would be unlimited, as long as all the relays on the way from sender and receiver aren't capped, any PCI-E wi-fi card can easily pull 200 mb/s for example, each user's speed would then be affected only by the number of users using the network and by the distance delay/lag.
For overseas communication, there're floats that can be used to host the relays and servers, which would be powered by the energy generated from the motion of waves or solar energy, or both.
This is what I believe will be a cool solution to live freely even in times of oppression, however, it's not gonna be cheap and needs a lot of volunteers who would be willing to spend time and money to create these floats, otherwise communications will be limited to land where it's more easy to self-host.

Conventional wi-fi naturally doesn't have much coverage, but hosts can always get amplifiers or even use wimax antennas and repeaters.

Israel and zionists are creating a mess in the middle east, and zome big names in industry are from a jewish oligarchy, but arguing all jews are only distorts the problem and splits opinion. This is exactly what benefits these oligarchs, to divide and conquer. While we should be naming one by one the roots of our problem we just end up saying "the jews". Like, give spefic names, some of the bastards are atheists cunts, other fervent evangelists.

I do agree some jews are part of the problem, but when you imply all jews are the problem, then you are helping the problem.

Jews understand the threat Computer Science poses them, it's no surprise they are trying so hard to destroy the internet. And while some people who may be part-Jew don't consider themselves to be Jews and are normal, those who identify as Jewish always, without fail, act in ways detrimental to other groups, and beneficial to their own in-group. The real problem with them is their extreme nepotism. While the passage of time is enough to defeat other maddened groups, they persist because they train their replacements to be carbon copies of themselves. This model has been theorized by some to be a survival mechanism since their numbers are so small. /pol/ doesn't like to admit it, but the Jews are losing, even with all their schemes. >how it happens that those severs are not seized/turned off immediately.
Lazy and incompetent authorities, there's people selling fake brand items in every underground station in plain sight, how comes nobody kicks them out? for the same reason.

Though, there're some corporations who attack these servers and try to take control over them, for example I was reading some month ago that kaspersky did seize many botnet nests (iirc it was related to the RBN), they take over using exploits or weaknesses just like crackers do and then wipe the server's databases and neutralize all the malicious activities.

Still, sometimes server providers simply ignore legal takedown requests if they are located outside the authorities' range of action, a chinese provider wouldn't care about some complaint from british police for example, as long as the chinese authorities don't see a threat to their country and its people from these providers, they won't even bother.

However, in the vast majority of cases, the main malware server is a compromised machine that acts as proxy so there's nothing that can be done unless the owner willingly left the malicious activities spread, but they're almost always unknowingly of thing like these.

Not him but depends on your country, in mine they collect all because it's mandatory. You can check here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_data_retention

When I was 12 and I had issues with my wifi router, I called the ISP support number and while they were remotely troubleshooting, I heard one of the guys say "it's all porn and games" to me it was obvious they were talking about my internet history. Anyone at my ISP can access this kind of personal informations, it's really dangerous.
>>
>>61629544
Ugh, that sucks.

In that case, I'd just upload the webM to YouTube or a webM host and link to it. The GIF is all but pointless since it's just not going to serve the frames at the right intervals for most people. Some are too fast, some are too slow. It's frustrating to try to watch.
>>
>>61629611
not him, but if you are using https (as you should be), then your ISP can only see the IPs you are communicating with and the times

to suggest your ISP can know the contents of messages on facebook means that they are capturing and parsing insecure packets, which I strongly doubt no matter where you are located because that would be a massive operation
>>
>>61629713

oO course SSL works, but in those years encryption wasn't very spread yet, it was like 2001-2002. Right now I don't know if the laws changed in matters of who can access the history of the users but I'm sure they still bulk-collect all data regardless.
>>
>>61629787
>oO course
Of course* ftfm and I also use and recommend HTTPS Everywhere, it's just great. Although it won't prevent the FB wagecucks from looking at your message history, it can protect you from sniffers and ISP-backbone surveillance.
>>
>>61621867
What board is that?
>>
>>61629739
yes, if the encryption works properly then someone snooping on you will only see the cipher text, ignoring the possibility of breaking the encryption (near impossible with AES-256)
in this case, the issue of trust now switches to the server you are communicating with: are they logging? are they even who you think they are(authentication)? will they hand over data if requested?
>>61629779
silicon valley is notorious for cooperating with federal agencies, if the government really wanted your data they would just ask, but ISPs IF THEY WANTED TO could have collected packets during the years of not using SSL/TLS, then pieced them together to "obtain" your data, but there is pretty much no way they did this on a large scale (consider the energy and manpower requirements)

By this, do you mean the server that is issuing the SSL certificate for HTTPS? Or would the SSL certificate be issued by some other server?

You use a CA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Certificate_authority). There are other methods too, but you never let the server issue it's own certification, that would make no sense. Browsers use public key encryption to achieve secure connections between client and server:

Browsers have hardcoded into them the public keys of trusted CAs (different for each browser). The sites presents certificates to you connect, and these certificates are encrypted (signed) with the PRIVATE key of the CA. All you need to do is attempt to decrypt with the PUBLIC key your browser has stored, then check the info matches (verify). If it works, then yay, secure connection. Notice how you don't have to connect to the CA's server since the key is stored by your browser, though you would in the event that your key was expired.

>>
>>61633666

The important thing to remember is that no matter what you do, you are always trackable. If someone wants to find you badly enough and has enough resources, they will.

Are you likely to be caught pirating movies by using a paid VPN? Not really because the MPAA doesn't have the resources and they prefer to go after low-hanging fruit. But, if for example, you did something to get the attention of some of the Three Letter agencies, that VPN isn't going to save you.

Same thing applies to every other security measure.

Net Neutrality is *part* of how the government regulates the internet. The government prevents private entities from restricting access. Either ISPs provide the internet as a whole, or not at all. Government would not allow for anything in-between.

If you're pro-Net Neutrality, you're pro-government regulation of the internet.

Dont do anything to warrant getting arrested.

They its not the three letter agencies that come after 'hi-tech' criminals anymore, its gov't contractors who can operate above the law because they aren't audited like gov't agencies are.

Take Cyveillance Inc, for example.

They were looking into me for some stuff a few years ago, and I actually caught them red-handed hacking into my social media accounts my leaving a trap for them to click on (a link that logged device and ip information)

I tracked the 'hacker' back to Cyveillance HQ in arlington, Virginia.

I started posting all over social media that they were hacking into my shit.

The next day, my home network was completely flooded with bots and my Home pc had about 700MB of files taken somwhere.

I monitored and recorded it with network logs, but of course I could trace the IP back to them, they were ready for it this time and used anonymous VPN services.

The only way to not get caught by them is not to do anything wrong, They will use contractors to skirt the law if they want to

somebody did.

I left a link for someone to click on who had been accessing my social media accounts and I got 2 hits that evening from mobile devices and then the next morning at aroung 9-10am EST I got several hits from IPs registered to Cybeillance.

This was a link to a freshly created domain with no DNS records anywhere. The only way to access it was a direct link, and the sole purpose I set the domain up was to see who would click on the link I left

could be, possible.

But it doesn't discount the fact I logged Cyveillance IPs 3 years ago and when I started blowing their shit up on social media literally within 2-3 days my home network was swarmed with a botnet (to obfuscate my ability to block individual IP's, which I had been doing) and almost a gig of data disappeared into a VPN tunnel somewhere.

then I post the story 3 years later and LITERALLY THE NEXT DAY someone claiming to be from Cyveillance calls my home phone, asks for me by name and tells me he wants a copy of the logs.

And then I refuse and my nginx is hit with a 0 day, systemd and iptables stop functioning completely and the contents of the server started getting streamed over port 80 (the only port open on the servers hardware firewall)

My only option was to unplug the firewall (also the servers gateway) and rebuilt with a non systemd machine running my own web service I coded in python

i read their wikipedia page just now. they're not a government agency, you have no rights regarding them other than suing them, and i dont know why you went poking them with a stick just because they set a a harmless trap to gather your device info which you didn't even have to click on. they seem ruthless and the not-to-be-fucked-with type, and i guarantee you that you just pissed him off for making a stink about his data gathering so he decided to look into your system and found a hole which he exploited as revenge

>>
>>61634353
this sounds pretty accurate.

They are def NGO, which was my point to begin with. the alphabet soup will hire an NGO if they really want you because these organizations can skirt the law alot easier than a government entity.

>and i dont know why you went poking them with a stick just because they set a a harmless trap to gather your device info which you didn't even have to click on
No, I had realized somebody had been hacking into my social media. I left THEM a trap to click on and they fell for it.

>and i guarantee you that you just pissed him off for making a stink about his data gathering so he decided to look into your system and found a hole which he exploited as revenge
This is also accurate. Agencies like this are above the law, they do whatever the fuck they want
>>
>>61634478
this was my point as well.

If somebody is hacking into my shit, I have every right to find out who it was and pursue. Even if these people are professional intelligence contractors, I was in the right, they were not. If they had a legitimate warrant given my an impartial judge, they wouldnt need to hack into anything, they could simply request it from whatever organization.

This was different and I have every right to fight back against shit like this.

Ive always voiced my distaste for certain aspects of the gov't, nothing actually rebellious/illegal tho, just general disgruntlment.

Ill admit about 4 years ago when the anonymous stuff was just getting big I talked with some people supposedly on the scene. I think they thought I was some sort of master hacker/cyber terrorist, who knows. I had some stupid image on my social media account that said something like "id rather fight free rather than live a sheep" or something and it had a guy fawkes mask.

Nothing, really. You can go on the run, but, as that other anon said, they eventually caught Bin Laden out in the boonies of Pakistan.

But the likelihood of you making it out of the country if you've got their attention is pretty low. If they see you start running, they'll grab you just based on the idea that you must have something to hide. They pretty much are not bound by laws. After all, if you're a legislator and want to start a stink about the shit they do, they'll just leak some pictures of you and an "underaged" girl or something. My guess is they have dirt on pretty much everyone in Congress that might be able to change things.
>>
>>61634689
Somewhat like you I was doing some political disgruntlement, but then I started to identify strange people doing what I can only call "social redirection" and mischief against the anonymous stuff. I figure if the other anons weren't so gullible they would caught the websites they were defacing were only decoys and that they were actually helping certain political party without them knowing. I only got my network connection cut and my IP banned in some places without explanation though.

I still identify some of the fuckers doing social redirection on social media.

well, what it really seemed like is they were just 'investigating' everything they could.

I think I was just one of many, only I happened to notice someone was hacking in. You see, with a private account you need to be somebodies friend to view their profile.

I noticed that friends were being added to my profile inexplicably. I only saw this by browsing my history, which most users dont do.

So i know somebody had been in my account so I sent myself a message containing the link to the trap domain that would monitor access.

sure enough, 2 mobile devices accessed the link later that day, and then I got 4 or 5 hits from cyveillance the next morning during working hours.

The best thing to do is look at job postings for what you want, and get those skills.

Saying you want a job in sec is almost like saying you want a job as an engineer, and asking how to get there. The answer will be different depending on what SPECIFICALLY you want to do in both circumstances.

You want to work at a SOC or get into malware reversal? Incident response or pen testing? Fuck even seperating your wants into blue/red team will help you focus your studies.

Find out what you actually want to do, and get those skills.

Biochemistry faggot checking in

>Biochemistry doesn't mean you understand the brain

Yes, it does. What you're suggesting is essentially mind control; that isn't possible at the moment.

>But secret government research

Yeah, you cannot implant a chip and control someone's mind using current technology. The furthest our medical research has done is blunt multplesclerorsis, we can't cure it yet. We can't cure brain cancer. These are easy problems compared to mind control. What you're describing is selectively causing action potentials to be stimulated in a particular way that you can manipulate on command. We don't even know what individual tracts (the name for nerves in the spinal cord and brain) actually do at the moment. We kind of know what certain areas of the brain do, but even that gets a little sketchy considering how plastic our brain is. So, no there is no such thing as mind control and we are seriously far away from mind control.

How do I know this? Because my professors, who are neurophysiologists worked on projects for DARPA and are nowhere near close enough in understanding the brain to fully control someone's mind. Also, the real money for brain related industry is ameliorating depression. Spoiler alter: we don't even know how depression works, yet you want to say we know how mind control works? For those of you at home, anti-depressants have the some of the largest revenues in the world.

Anglos hailing from the specific parts of the British Dominion located in North America were commonly referred to as "the colonials" in the mainland Britain. Learn your own fucking history.

>>61636259
Just remember: the colonian business interests and political leaders would've never allowed for a general secession to take place, as the entire continent still depended on the Crown for heavy industries and perishable goods. Hell, even the colonials themselves didn't want a secession because they still had professional ties, families, and assets, even loyalty towards Britain. The House of Lords basically took the worst possible diplomatic option at every crisis (from the stamp act to the fucking tea chimpout) to foster the burning desire for secession.

no need for that, i didnt answer your first question yet.

it depends what you mean by secure, and again by medium. you could always encrypt it, burn it on a dvd and cover it with deep sound ala mr robot

you want it secure from the outside internet world? secure from physical threats? a portable medium or on a hdd?

if you want to secure it from outside, make your server ssh with keys only, fail2ban, obscure port etc. even better is dont have it online.

anyway yeah where is the db, where is it going, and what do you want it secure from?
