What the fuck happened to autosuggest in Google Chrome?
Back when I was a sprat, I could type anything and it would show me a list of websites I've visited that contain that exact text in the title.
Now I have to type in like five words from the title (unless I've visited a page a million times) or all it will show me is it's stupid fucking recommended Google searches.
And on a related note, why does Google ignore half my fucking search terms half the fucking time? It's even starting to ignore exact quotes. Jesus fucking CHRIST.
>still using google
they know what's best for you anyway shithead.
In case I wasn't clear, I'm referring to your comprehensive browser history being easily searchable with the address bar instead of having to press CTRL+H and manually search through your history.

gee you're right I better use CuckCuckGo or something. Who cares if none of the pages I'm looking for are even indexed, at least I'm free as in freedom

Recommendation algorithms have deliberately gotten worse. For searches, for youtube, for netflix: whatever.
It turns out that it's more profitable to drive users towards sponsored content than it is to be accurate.
Capitalism is always at odds with genuine progress.

b-but anon
what would they even have to gain?
all the sponsored content is clearly marked as an "Ad"
they don't make any money from directing me to things from my normal search results
r-right?
>>61617674
Wrong. If that "ad" even shows up on your Google search, via Google adwords/adsense, it counts towards your total traffic.

Sidenote, this is called an "impression"

ok yeah i got that part
but what I was rhetorically asking is that, even though I agree search is deliberately being made worse (as I've observed it):
why would they intentionally make it worse to direct traffic to "sponsored" content for content that is supposedly not sponsored - e.g. not marked as an ad.

Because even if it doesn't say "ad" or "sponsored", the owner of the ad words or adsense still gets paid. It's all about who pays the most amount of money to be on the top searches.
