Why isn't there any built-in gui file search in linux?

I've never really missed it because you can just use the find command or take 10 minutes to write a simple program for more functionality but it's still not really friendly mostly to new linux users. Is this excluded with a reason?

KDE, GNOME, Unity etc.. They are your GUIs. And they literally all have file search.

I just installed catfish from my local repo (AU)
Look at how its displayed in the Accessories menu. It's at the very bottom. What gives? Any ideas?
