I still don't understand why HBM2 has less bandwidth than HBM. What is AMD up to and does it affect performance ? Google hasn't been of any help and I can't be arsed to do any big research since I'm more than happy with my current R9 Fury and Vega is out of budget for now. Anyone care to enlighten me ?

Performance isnt all about bandwidth. Its a balancing game between bandwidth, power consumption, heat dissipation, etc.
Difference between 2000 and 4000 bit is marginal compared to 256 and 2000.

For now, 32 GB (4 stacks?) configurations are hinted in recent leaks, but perhaps they are two dies configurations, so no improvement if that is the case.
