A HDD spins very fast. This allows it to read and write very quickly while causing it to wear out very quickly.
An SSD on the other hand is static so the information has to drain into it via gravity. Much slower, but puts less strain on it. Also why it's cheaper, no moving parts.

SSDs are the future. Their cost per gb is dropping every year, and their capacity is quickly outdoing HDDs as a 10TB SSD is already in existence. They also have significantly higher read/write speeds, consume less power, are less prone to being damaged because they have no moving parts, and are also dead silent because of no moving parts.

They are most definitely not a meme and you can expect them, along with other solid state memory solutions, to begin replacing HDDs in the next 10 years or less.

RAPID is literal snake oil, half of the time it does nothing and the other half it actually slows the drive down. The only time it actually helps is when you're doing large sequential writes, which is basically never.
The numbers you get in Magician benchmark with RAPID on are completely meaningless as far as the SSD is concerned, you're basically just measuring your RAM.
