It's pretty insane how much they've done with UWP. Shame due to a bunch of spergs, majority of devs haven't ported shit.
Once they get rid of some of the technical limitations UWP currently has (gaming is still a lil wonky, but slowly getting better since CU), it'll usher in a new era of gaming and productivity tbqh

>>61590987
Win10 itself (and a few things that run at startup like mbam, sandboxie and nvidia shit) uses about 2GB of RAM for me without any sort of performance tweaks. It's not that bad, and if it means that all UWP programs can use those resources without having to load their own copies into their own memory space, then as you run more and more UWP programs the memory savings vs classic Win32 programs become quite significant.
>>
I switched to it from Chrome last week, liking it so far but the lack of WebM support sucks. Also is there an extension for it like HTTPS Everywhere?

Firefox didn't support the drm video playback standard, so it is limited to 720p 30fps on Youtube, same as IE11 was on Windows 7.

Edge supports it, so it can run 4k 60fps on youtube.

I forgot what the streaming tech was called, but youtube used to have a status page that displayed what your browser supports.
>>
>>61592219
>Can anyone actually explain what makes Edge a bad browser?

NO RSS READER, no fullscreen view, and it is locked to the OS, so if you can't update Win10 for some reason, you are stuck with an old version.

I think what you're actually talking about is vp9 decoding iirc. Firefox has that off by default, in which youtube on ff reverts to another whereas on Edge and Chrome that isn't the case.

I love to try something new and I had 0 problems switching from Firefox to Chromium, due to the vast number of available extensions, but Edge feels just like Windows phone.

Supposedly polished, but lacking proper customization.

It has what, 40 something total extensions?

Do you people really only use the stock browser? Extensions make the browser as far as I'm concerned. What is the point of loading a page 0.01 second sooner when you have to spend way longer time doing simple things that take mere seconds with extensions?

this and old webm support xDD rather feed Microsoft botnet than Google's
>>
>>61603004
>old webm support
Webm support is Google's ballpark. They're the ones that make the webm plugin for Internet Explorer.
Until recently, that plugin hadn't been working because it only supported MKV v2, while the rest of the internet moved onto MKV v4 (webm uses MKV as the backend). Webms now work on Internet Explorer, but because the plugin doesn't carry over to Edge, webm still isn't supported.

Edge claims to support webm (VP8 support in about:flags), and every test claims that Edge supports webm, but you can try to view literally any webm and it will not work.
>>
>>61590296
No uBlock while using InPrivate, which is a shame.
>>
>>61603092
The reason extensions are disabled during InPrivate is to eliminate the possibility of extensions gathering any data from your private session.

Chrome does this too by default, but they give you the option to exempt extensions. Microsoft should definitely add this too.
>>
>>61603060
Absolutely fucking ridiculous.
Microsoft Edge has always had WebM support, and apparently it is disabled if there is no hardware acceleration (Intel Integrated Graphics doesn't count)
Didn't realize this until today.
This makes things so much easier.
>>
>>61603060

How do I have per-site zoom levels? In Chrome and Firefox I can have one website at say 200% and another at 125%. Edge seems to keep a single zoom level. For 4chan I have it at 225% but that is far too much for most other web pages (I use a 43inch TV which is why I zoom so much).

He's talking about Media Source Extensions, which Firefox didn't support at the time that Youtube started migrating to HTML5, meaning it was stuck at 720p. I think they were finally enabled by default in Firefox 31, having been accessible from about:config and pretty buggy for a while before that.

Of course, it has no relevance today.
>>
>>61604695
iirc they were doing that but no updates since may

>>61603060
Webm support isn't that simplistic. Currently though, it supports vp9 webm with MSE. This means youtube videos first and foremost use the webm format.
It's why webm test sites don't work (they don't use mse), nor 4chan (although it also doesn't use vp8).
Development needs to speed up though things aren't moving fast enough.

Chrome includes points for shit it supports but is so buggy that it cannot be used.

It was getting extra points for viewports even though they were useless for 3-4 years due to a buggy implementation.
