OpenBSD, you update it with update.rc or so
openSUSE - the only distro that comes with a specially patched version of Firefox that includes thumbnail preview in the file picker

Choose an Ubuntu based distro and Cinnamon as the desktop environment...

Woops I meant bsd.rd, I can't pay myself a lot of hardware so I haven't tried it yet but it seems that you can update its kernel with a ramdisk kernel that you load through a USB drive. Updating third-party software (such as Virtualbox) may be harder
Linux Mint Cinnamon, everything works, bluetooth, wifi, multiple monitors, steam. if you come from windows cinnamon de is a silkier windows style ui and you already know how to do everything, there is a gui program in mint for everything

Everything works too in Fedora and it's based on Red Hat and maintained by Red Hat. Ubuntu is a meme and the only reason to use it is to work on Canonical software, e.g. snappy or such. Anything based on Ubuntu can hardly be less garbage than Ubuntu.

I used arch to make a similar computer live again. It's fairly easy to install if you follow a guide. I use it for lightweight server duty now.
Debian GNU/Linux.

Yes, Ubuntu GNOME

You don't have to switch. Just try mint live cd for a bit and see if you like it at all. Maybe get yourself a small ssd and install it and see how it goes.

Lubuntu is easy on ram. But easier to use if you start out on mint since lubuntu is pretty stripped down.
