I'm a newb at this. I literally want an n64 cartridge slot hanging out of my pc case. I want to stick n64 carts in my pc and have them playable

So cut a hole in your case, take the board of the the 64, and then mount it to your case.

It won't look pretty, and it's not like they are really connected, but hey it'll work.

sure. Don't forget to show everyone at school.

uh making them playable from your pc sounds crazy.
But yeah you could put it inside your case where you want and then run the video out inconspicuously somewhere and all you need would be some adapters and you'd use the same monitor that you have for your pc. You'd have to switch the input on your screen...but that's about it. Maybe get some sort of extensions for the controller inputs otherwise you're stuck with the shape of the cartridge insert and controller inputs as is.
oh and there's the power and reset buttons too...idk I'm out of fucks to give

Maybe you could use an arduino setup like this that could read the cartridge and automatically play the rom in an emulator. Could be a fun project.

I don't know about N64's but I know there's an official sega megadrive/genesis pc called the sega teradrive.
