as someone who used amd for years and switched to nvidia this month recording was one of the first things i tested and i can safely say shadowplay is much better. Amd worked fine in most things but it also had some really big problems, I wasnt able to get it to work with dolphin or some other emulators, people said it works with desktop recording on but it didnt. The desktop recording was overall kind of shitty, and the worst thing was streaming with it. No matter what Id change in the settings id get a laggy and garbled output.
As for shadowplay, I had no problem recording anything with it, havent tested streaming yet. It kind of looks better, its not a big enough difference that you would want to switch to nvidia just for it but its there, they also do things for convenience's sake like automatically create folders with the name of the game you are recording and put the videos in there, and the last thing I liked is that I could see the fps without it getting recorded and showing up in the output
