Is there any laptop meeting the following criteria :
-not 16/9
-somewhat modern CPU (ivy bridge or newer)
-convertible with stylus
-below $1k (used or new)
The surface book looks neat on paper, but I've heard it's clunky plus it's expensive as shit
please help

I'd say X230T but it's 16/9

Non-gpu surface book is under 1k on eBay and still less clunky than most modern laptops.

I considered that but I really don't want to give up on 3:2 or at least 16:10

I'll check it out, but since I'm not in the US stuff might be more expensive
I'm considering getting one of those why is it clunky?

the way it closes, there's space between the screen and keyboard
headphone jack on the screen rather than keyboard
distribution of weight between screen and keyboard a little fucked

Oh you meant physically I assumed you meant there was an issue with its firmware. As luck would have it I went hands on with the device itself in a store today and thought the build was fine aside from that headphone jack

Chromebook Pixel 2, not convertible though.
