You don't understand how quantum works
>>
>>61553534
Not quite. It's weird but the best way to describe it is that if you went and measured the state of the particle, you'd find it could be in any of those states at once. But when you measure, it only has the one. The trick to quantum computing is not measuring and letting a system of particles be in a lot of states at once, running through a lot of possible calculations.

Oh, and you're not getting something as small as a microSD card. Nor a normal SD card. You need large equipment to measure the state, and you also need to keep it cold. Really, really cold.
>>
>>61552544
Are you confusing it with quantum processors/computers?

If so, the TL;DR on that shit is that it requires near absolute zero temperatures. Even as the quantum computer "heart" itself gets smaller, the basic laws of thermodynamics get in the way of having cooling systems smaller than a 1960s IBM.

It is also about "doing" more, not "storing" more info. A quantum computer could be much faster at doing trial-by-error calculations, but it isn't going to hold more data in a conventional and immediately ascertainable file format.

At some point, you can only store more data by compression. Maybe in the near future the concept of "unzipping" could take a fraction of a second so that a 1000 TB file set takes up only 500-700 TB when not being used.

But really the need for more data has more to do with lazy unoptimization. You dont need uncompressed 8k movies on your phone. Most of us barely see the difference between a 1080p and a 1440p phone as is other than in certain 3D applications where more resolution is a proxy to Anti Aliasing. Most people older than 25 lack the ears to tell the difference between a .flac and an .mp3 with =/> 200kbps despite the audio equipment.
>>
>>61553794
With quantum you could use hashing for "compression"
>hash the data
>check if any data of the same size could produce the same hash
>if so, find the smallest information unique for your set of data such as "it's divisible by this prime" or "156547 bit and 90 after are: ..."
>save the hash with length and any unique information
>to uncompress you have to just check every possible combination of data of given lenght, first against the hash, then against the unique info

>>61557821
>Giving people a sense of economic freedom and the ability to independently innovate while the actually significant means of production are controlled by the state is a good idea.

There are a host of capitalist economies that do this. It is also literally what facist economic policy was - interestingly an ideology that positioned itself as a third economic way between communism and capitalism.

Communism is fundamentally an economic system that has taken on the political trappings of everything else under the sun.

Also the communist destroyed a massive amount of chinese culture and especially art. Mao wanted a social revolution to 'cleanse' the nation of the old ways to make true socialism a possibility.

This is why so many wealthy chinese are buying up all the chinese art on the western market that they can - there simply isnt a lot actually left in china thanks to the commies.

You're curious about why this isn't a thing, but you don't know how computers work at all.

CPUs are integrated circuits which perform particular instructions given a particular signal, called opcodes. These instructions are in the form of a circuit embedded within the CPU.
The logic behind those instructions are well defined circuits such as half-adders or full-adders that can be looked up online, and are intended to transform a particular input into a particular output on a truth table.
The smaller the circuit--meaning the less logic gates it contains, and the closer together those logic gates are--the faster it will run.

So, if you managed to follow all the way through, you can see why making the processor "larger" makes no sense. There is no reason why making a processor bigger would provide any performance gains.

What engineers do to improve performance are many-fold. Electrical engineers and materials scientists will try to decrease the size of transisters. They will invent logical tricks to perform more computation within a given space. They invented CPU pipelining to make use of circuits that aren't currently in use. Branch prediction so that they wouldn't have to flush the CPU pipeline on a successful branch.
Vector instructions to parallelize calculations going on at the same time. Transform well-known and commonly used algorithms, such as SHA-1 and H.264 decode into ASICs and embed them into the CPU to make these algorithms run faster. Fabricate circuits in 3 dimensions to further decrease the space between transistors. Use supercomputers to calculate where each individual transistor should be placed to minimize the circuit size.

Creating integrated circuits such as CPUs and SD cards is an exercise in thinking out of the box and using the resources that are already available to you.
>>
>>61557821
but isn't the point of communism to give the means of production to the people?
>>
>>61558710
Why wouldn't i need that much space?
you sir need to start thinking outside the box
>>
>>61563473
Making it larger would let you cram more into it. Or maybe it'd be cheaper. Obviously, bigger without any changes is not an improvement. I was asking if latency was an issue. You didn't need to type a book.
>>
>>61563620
>cram more into it
If you understood what I wrote, the question you would have is "cram what into it?"
It's precisely that you can't cram more in there that you can't make CPUs any bigger than they already are. In the first place, they are already exactly the size they need to be, because the engineers thought that there wasn't anything left to put in.
>you didn't need to type a book
I typed out a book because the question requires background. How can anyone understand the answer if they don't know even the foundational material on the subject? Pearls before swine.

Yields fall as chip size and processing steps increase. If you make a chip too large or add too many layers of metal, you'll be lucky to get a single good die out of a wafer.

>>61566050
Capacitance is proportional to area. Smaller devices will have smaller areas, therefore reach their activation points more quickly when their inputs change. Also, fewer layers of logic will naturally be faster than more layers, which is another motivation for pipelining.
