As I've read a million times, I know that not everything is working when trying to install any sort of distro on the new line of MacBooks.
However, I'm pretty new to Linux and I'm wondering how support for these things come about. So I have a few questions:

How long do you think it will take for an update to the Linux kernel that will support and have the new Macbook pro's working correctly?

Who creates these kernel updates? Are they just standard everyday contributors?

Its 15% normal contributors the rest is spread between ibm redhat and other corps

How long does it usually take for these fixes to take place?

It really depends either apple is going to help or some form of reverse engineering is going to take place who knows how long that would take.

Fucking Apple. I would switch but I really enjoy the hardware of MBP. Obviously I don't care about the OS, but I haven't been able to find a PC who's hardware I like as much

If the new one doesn't support it, buy an older one.

I own such an ASUS Ultrabook and the fan controls need custom kernel modules... also the default fan config is a mess... well, still better than applel
