How did people program before Stack Overflow?
>>

they didn't
>>
Only educated individuals dare took the plunge. Not sure how to say this without offending anyone but the field was a lot less diverse.

Fuck you, that offended me.
>>
>>61544471
People also wrote better code back then, can you imagine why?
>>
>>61544471

they got their slaves to do it
>>
books, trial and error
>>
>>61544471
They had to read the shit out of god damn manuals, and hope the books weren't shit either. Look at most C code. Even today, the comments are garbage. It was a nightmare.
>>
People used to start with the examples, manipulate and experiment with them, move things around, change pieces of it from the definitions provided in the book, combine with other concepts they learned earlier, etc. Eventually you learned the way these new concepts worked. You added it to your tool belt, and incorporated it into your own code. But yeah that's old school shit, nobody does that anymore. Now you just copy shit from the internet and call it coding.
>>
I would randomly type code and test until shit worked somehow. After that I never looked at the code again. I wasn't even curious about why it worked.

I did that on Clipper 5.
Good times.

>Stack Overflow
They didn't make infinite recursive calls.
>>
Am I the only anon who stopped using stack overflow after graduating?

Seriously, I only find myself looking up exception explanations only if I'm stumped and that usually all it takes to get a working solution afterwards. It's like I magically stopped needing to go to the internet for answers. Feels weird.
