While GTK is generally easier to use and has more widespread language support, it tries to force some sort of pseudo-object oriented syntax into it's C codebase that is absolutely disgusting. The licencing of Qt can be a bit of a problem, but if you're using it professionally just pay the damn licence fee. If you know how to program well enough to use it, you capable of making enough money to purchase it.
