Hello /g
Let's debat about witch BSD use for laptop
ideally for thinkpad.
FreeBSD or OpenBSD
Why ?
Why not ?
Bump because I'm wondering the same thing.
OpenBSD. Because the developers prefer them for their own machines so it just works.

That a good argument :)

Yes
And i thinkad many people dont know where to start
>>61507364

Aren't most of the FreeBSD devs actually Mac users?
Anyway here's an OpenBSD developers meeting

openbsd is a lot more lenient with hardware but you get a lot of neat stuff with freebsd so you do you i guess
>>61507282
OpenBSD is NOT meant for general purpose computers any more than say, Plan9 is.
Fucking dum plebbitor /r/unixporn pieces of shit. You look SO COOL just because your neofetch has a pufferfish on it kid. You want FreeBSD, but really you deserve something shittier like Mint or Solus.
B*roken S*oftware D*isappointment.
Because trying to make things work is fun.

It's spelled Plan 9,not Plan9 nor plan9. They are both general purpose OSs so I can't understand what your point is, you dingus.
>>61507282
OpenBSD
>>61507344
>steal
You're a fucking moron.
>>61509394
>OpenBSD is NOT meant for general purpose computers
Meanwhle the devs use it for exactly that purpose.

>>61509394
Do you even know what unix-like even means? Because your ignorance is glaring.
>>61509394
I love Window Maker
>>61507282
Someone tell a noob what's the difference between bsd and your basic linux is. What's the point of bsd?
>>61507282
OpenBSD
>>61512192
Just different type of OS. BSD's share many common values with Linux example being FOSS.
Google is your friend.
OpenRC manjaro.
Using freebsd on T400, works nice. All drivers are present and everything works out of the box. ZFS is cool,I am running a mirror pool with 2 HDDs. Performance is good, newer packages than debian stable
>>61509544
I never had a problem trying to get bsd to work.
>>61507282
does bsd properly support pci passtrhough?
for the shit I need windows for I at least want to utilize the gpu properly
>>61509394
why is this schizophrenic shitposter always everywhere bringing up plan 9 whenever we talk about operating systems he doesn't like
