Anyone on /g/ using an orange pi pc2 or other cheap raspberry pi alternative?

Would they be sufficient as a desktop replacement running Linux?

No, due to lack of good GPU drivers and slow-as-shit IO.

The fuck is up with that crooked ass layout?

I have an orange, banana and raspi3 running 24/7. they're extremely useful to me.

you could run it as a desktop if your needs are modest (i.e you don't video editing etc.).

So pretty much web browsing and media consumption are fine?
>>
>>61494894
yes. unless you're doing 3D editing, video encoding/editing or anything else that requires tons of CPU and GPU, SBC will be more than enough.

Enjoy your chink backdoors

No, he is lying. You will get awful scrolling in browser due to no HW acceleration and also freezes due to slow io.

you're retarded. chromium browser is fully HW accelerated in new Rasbian. even the video playback is GPU accelerated. You can play 1440p video on YT with no stuttering at all. PIXEL desktop environment is smooth as butter too.

anyway, you're a moron.

there is

from armbian

egacy kernel images (all boards) (default branch)

HDMI output (if exists) supports only limited number of predefined resolutions
TV Out doesn’t work as expected (only PAL/NTSC resolution, overscanning, no h3disp support, notes for OPi Zero)
1-Wire protocol, reading out DHT11/DHT22 sensors or S/PDIF requires setting the minimum CPU frequency to 480MHz or higher
Hardware accelerated video decoding supports only limited number of video formats
‘Out of memory’ (OOM) issues are possible due to a kernel bug
