Hook it up to your wall socket. That should burn through all wiretapping equipment.

I'm afraid I don't know for certain, but my best guess would be that you'd have to use very sensitive equipment to analyze a test signal for interference or power drop compared to a control. Anything more would probably involve some specific knowledge of the tap, so as to know which kind of stimulus would provoke an errant response from it. After all great care is taken in their design to make them NOT "talk" on the line.
