How're the LEDs on the bottom? The biggest complaint I see is that you can't see them clearly because the LEDs are bright enough. Is it hard to see for colors like red and easy to see with lighter colors, or is it fixed now?
>>
>>61487570
Reds and Yellows are ridiculously smooth, probably the smoothest switch there is. And Yellows have a super light beginning to fall into a cushiony bottom, it's great.

If you're going linear, Gaterons are undoubtedly the best.
>>
>>61487570
Zealios, obviously. They've got premium gold-plated springs, premium fully transparent housings and a premium 85c apiece pricetag, so they gotta be good.

No, that's not how it works. When I say it can be built with one, I mean the lower left part of the keyboard can be 1.25-1.25-1.25-6.25u instead of the 1.5-1.5-7u. You get one more key, without losing anything.

Got this for when i go to LAN events or around friends. I dont really use the programming side of kb's so that would be wasted on me. It is rather nice to type on and REALLY quiet. It has Nature white switches, aka slightly stiffer reds. they feel a touch lighter than black switches as thats what im most used to. at least the keycaps are nice

Does anybody has bought the tada68 kit?
I want to build one with vintage Cherry MX blue.
Do I need switches with diodes or the PCB includes them?
>>
>>61489076
that's actually pretty funny, but in episode IV they were intentionally missing.

Sanitize your links please. The kit comes with everything but the switches and diodes.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Tada68-diy-kit/32821254418.html

It comes with everything, you just need to buy switches and LEDs. Then all you have to do is solder the switches and LEDs to the PCB. That's it.

>>
>>61490608
Do people older then 12 really care how their keyboards look? Other then the fact the matias keyboard has better build quality, KBP doesn't support the V80 anymore so you'd either have to live with all the horrible bugs or flash the V60 firmware on it.
>>
>>61490695
>Do people older then 12 really care how their keyboards look?
If I were 12 years old I wouldn't care about my keyboard getting covered in smudge, dust and fingerprints.

>have to live with all the horrible bugs
How does a keyboard have bugs?
>>
>>61489065
what's the advantage of having empty spaces in bottom corners?
>>
>>61490742
>How does a keyboard have bugs?
Have you never used chink shit before?
The V80 exists cause back then cherry and kailh switches were too expensive, and matias switches were the cheapest. So looking to make huge profits the chinks brought together the cheapest shit money can buy to make a mechanical keyboard. Of course now days outemu and zorro are the cheapest stuff out there so every chink shit board uses them. The only reason why they still make the v80 is because they have the left over tooling. You'll see what bugs I'm talking about when it gets to you.

So KBDfans came out with their own hypersphere rings for silencing topre. Is there any downside to installing them?

>>
>>61490804
There's a little vibrating motor in there so you can rest the tip of your dick on it and have one of the best orgasms of your life. And thanks to the stock thick PBT keycaps and rubber dome design you can easily clean it with baby wipes. Those nips have though of everything
>>
>>61490809

The z-77 in non-backlit has solderless switches, which makes it easy to replace them. Mine had two faulty out of the box, but it came with a few spares so that was an easy fix. Might be something to consider for a cheaper board. It's on sale at Amazon right now 38% off, although I saw it at 50% off yesterday.

>>
>>61500245
A common issue is key chatter, but that can easily be fixed in several ways, like updating the firmware, opening up the switch and cleaning it out, or simply desolder the broken switch and replace it. The bigger issue would be those shitty ABS keycaps it comes with, but next year matias will be coming out with PBT keycaps so by the time they wear out you can replace them.

If i'm soldering new switches onto a board what solder should i use? I have some at home but its really thick and almost seems coated in something. When i use it the solderhats are very matte gray instead of that shiny silvery surface.

Same here. I prefer them to topre and zealios, but I had to return my V80 with QC because a quarter of the keyboard had experienced key chatter at one point (the chatter seemed to come and go, strangely). Now that I have my own soldering gun, I'd love to try another board again.

Hello guys, my first post here, so let's hope this goes well. The Logitech K120 is the best keyboard I have ever tried. It only cost me 8£ brand new. Why is it good you ask? I shall tell you.

Well, first of all: this keyboard is from Logitech, which is undoubtedly the best keyboard manufacturer today.

It is a rather common keyboard, yes; but because it is a Logitech, somehow it doesn't feel cheap. It's like the brand itself makes a crappy keyboard turn into a great one. I don't know, Logitech has always made me feel comfortable with cheaper products.

The keys are superbly well distributed, and your fingers won't touch the surrounding keys like some other ones I've tried. The keys are also not very soft, nor very hard to press down on. You know, this keyboard makes it just right, so that you can actually take advantage of the impulse that the rebounding keys give you.

This keyboard makes you feel like gravity is actually working WITH you, rather that against you.

Another thing I absolutely love about it, is the space bar. It is just the right size, and not too small or too big like on some other crappy keyboards from other manufacturers. The space bar is the most balanced key in the whole keyboard, it sits right at the center, and you can actually use it without looking at the keyboard. I mean, that's just brilliant design.

It's an USB keyboard. This makes it perfect for use with modern computers, and even laptops and netbooks. No more using that old crappy PS/2 port. We're in 2017, people.

I could be here all day, but in the end, I just wanted to share with you my experience with this marvelous piece of peripheral engineering. I recommend this keyboard to anyone.

>>
>>61500971
Blacks and reds are, well, linears.
Browns are shit if you expect them to be silent blues. Protip: they're not.
Blues are nice, except that they're loud, you can get one or two switches with no clicks if you're unlucky, and they're not double-tap-friendly.
Clears can be extremely heavy if you don't learn not to bottom out.

That unironically looks nice.

Try emailing KBP about it. They were pretty nice to me last time I contacted them. If you can solder, they will send you replacement switches. While you're at it, you might want to examine every single key for chatter.
>>
>>61503116
>If you can solder

>While you're at it, you might want to examine every single key for chatter.
How would I go about doing this? It all seems to work just fine so far minus the retarded fucking E switch.
>>
>>61502969
Looks like either vintage cherry double shots or dye subs.
>>
>>61503129
>>61503116
Just checked some more. It isn't even just that one key. There's another three or four that either don't click at all or make a shitty horrible sound like a spring being compressed.

I bought it from MechanicalKeyboards, they are in the US and I'm in the UK. Should I just return this piece of shit? Half the keys feel like buckling springs and the other half feel like cherry mx reds, I can't believe it's this fucking bad.
>>
>>61503129
>I've soldered before, but never a keyboard. I assume it isn't particularly difficult?
Normally, the flow is like this:
1. Open up the case (KBP might show you a video showing how)
2. Desolder the faulty switch (two pins)
3. Solder the new switch
4. Assemble the case

But since the switches are plate mounted, I'm concerned that you might have to desolder every single switch to remove the plate first. Or maybe you can squeeze the faulty switches out without removing the plate. I'm not sure.

>How would I go about doing this?
Try something like this:
https://elitekeyboards.com/switchhitter.php

Then go type a random wikipedia article or something. Or do every possible key press and combination you can think of. Alternatively, you can smear across the whole keyboard with your hand, kinda like an organ palm smear. I think you might get false positives that way, so I wouldn't recommend it.

>>61503260
In that case, you might want to either go for a refund or a replacement.
>>
>>61503299
Fucking ten percent restocking fee even though this shit is broken, fuck my life.

The F2 and E keys don't click at all, and the F8 and comma keys make a scratching/springy noise. The resistance from key to key is quite inconsistent and a lot of the keys have this weird problem where if you press them on the edges they take a massive amount of force to depress.

Overall I'd rate my experience with Matias Click/KBP V80 a solid -15/10, fuck this piece of shit, knew I should have just stayed with my Unicomp.
>>
Damn, ordered my tada 2 years ago. Delivery scheduled for the 26th, chinks got the delivery on point.
>>
>>61503361
Is it possible that you're overreacting? Boards with MX blues can have a couple of keys that don't click either.

>The resistance from key to key is quite inconsistent and a lot of the keys have this weird problem where if you press them on the edges they take a massive amount of force to depress.
I think that's by design (TM). How about giving it some time to get used to it?
>>
>>61503383
Nah, it's really bad, they are just really inconsistent key to key. Even my 25 quid I500 feels like a better quality product than this, all the keys feel pretty near identical to press.

I don't know if I just got really unlucky with QC, or maybe it was damaged in the post. It wasn't packaged brilliantly, they just shipped it in the retail box (which has zero padding) inside a bigger box. The keys that work feel pretty good I guess, but not amazing. They don't really sound clicky though.

Trash. Trash. Trash. Complete fucking garbage. Trash everywhere. This minimalism meme has gone too fucking far because this shit is all fucking trash. Removing the Num pad is acceptable because all of its functionality is duplicated in the normal number keys above the letter keys, it's redundant and wasted space, but now you're just fucking removing keys for the hell of it.

Two+ years ago mechanical keyboards were very expensive, and the cheapest ones out there were alps clones like matias and fukka. KBP is a chink brand infamous for cuting as much cost as they possibly can. They even use shitty tai-hao keycaps on their keyboards as stock. They also had the cheapest cherry keyboards around, and all this was due to using cheap semi broken switches from both cherry and matias. I had their full size keyboard with mx blues since that was the cheapest option three years ago and I had keychatter problems, as well as key resetting problems where after pressing the key down it wouldn't come back up. It was a slightly common issue on these keyboards, but there was nothing else for sub $100. Even the cheapest keyboard the lolita was 70 bucks and had kailh switches, which at the time were some of the worst switches money can buy. A lot has happened since then and the mechanical keyboard market is 1000x better, but KBP is still stuck in the past. Even matias is improving their keyboards to keep up with the changing market
>>
>>61506340
So stupid, I wouldn't have wasted my time and money with it if I knew this. The consistency from key to key is honestly the worst I've ever felt in any keyboard with any switches. It's like typing on a Model M that has half the plastic clips broken on one side of the board and not on the other, all the keys end up feeling slightly different. It's a shame because it seems like they would be pretty great switches if they actually all felt the same.

I just need a good TKL that isn't Cherry MX Blues, some chink needs to rip off that guys Model F remakes right about now.
>>
>>61506399
>some chink needs to rip off that guys Model F remakes
Funny thing is that those are chink knockoffs. People just don't realize how expensive capacitive switches are. For that price its very reasonable and actually a good deal, but I don't like the layout. If you want a tkl then just get an ibm model m ssk :^)
>>
>>61506793
IBM Model M SSK's are massively expensive for something used, and I'd get raped even harder on shipping an import tax living in the UK. I agree on that guys Model F's layout though, I need my F keys since I play vidya.

I wish Unicomp would hurry the fuck up and make a TKL, I'd buy 20. Are F's significantly better than M's? They sure sound better but I've never typed on one.

Other then that everything else was metal, and it needs to be like that due to how capacitive switches work. The case can be made from plastic, but that would only cut down costs by 50-80 bucks
>>
>>61508243
Topres are capacitive switches so they actuate at the very top, but since they have a rubber dome once it colapses you bottom out.
>>
>>61508205
>i-500
Awesome, thanks
>>
>>61508243
It's a bit harder to double tap because the dome collapses before you can float near the actuation point. Otherwise, it's just a matter of preference, so it's perfectly fine for gaming.

in all seriousness though this is pretty cringey and off-putting that he's asking $100 for a reject of a dime a dozen chinkmade piece of plastic. makes it too obvious to his customers that they're paying a price premium for pure autism reasons

Wait the fuck, the white TADA's keycaps are not dye-subbed? Fuck me. That may change things. Was planning to get it.
>>
>>61508647
i'm not sure but i'm guessing they're dye subbed but maybe by some other company than enjoypbt

>Why do people buy these expensive ABS sets only for them to get shiny in a couple months?
Please someone answer this because I don't get it as well.

a) Why are GMK sets so incredibly expensive?
b) Why do people actually buy them at these prices when they can get more robust PBT sets for way less?
>>
>>61508861
I bought mine because first set and it was aesthetic as fuck. I also don't have a board for it lmao

I don't understand people who buy products for use but don't use them. The people on mechmarket constantly flipping GMK sets (unused or light use no shine)
I plan on using mine on my work board until I wear through them
Idgaf about shine because I'm not an insecure fag who judges self worth off mechanical keyboards
>>
>>61497172
the ISO left shift is dumb because it's further away, but a short right shift isn't a problem at all because you wouldn't use the rightmost part of the right shift anyway
>>
>>61508960
it's not just about the looks, it's about wearing down the texture and it gets that nasty oily feel
>>
>>61508960
>Idgaf about shine because I'm not an insecure fag who judges self worth off mechanical keyboards
Huh? For me, shiny parts feel sticky on my fingers. It always feels like the key is wet, or sticky/greasy. It's especially bad when it happens only on a few keys. I'm having PBT keys here but after a few years some spots on the space bar shine and it just feels terrible. I don't care how it looks.

Wouldn't know but I really don't think it's going to bother me. I also don't have oily hands and regularly wash them (hospital regs) before I'm on my keyboard
I also won't let a soul touch my caps/board

Not even the gf

Would it be worth it to get a WASD V2 with their US international layout keycaps (with alt gr symbols/letters printed on) to get used to the QWERTY layout and then get better keycaps later ?
>>
>>61509293
But I did, because that's literally the entire thing.
>>
>>61509684
why wouldn't you just get the board and enjoypbt at the same time?
>>
>>61494117
wouldn't getting browns do the same?
>>
>>61510102
I don't know, WASD is the only one I know that offers the US international symbols/letters on they custom keycaps
>>
>>61510136
browns are barely tactile.

Fucking sucks to live on the other side of the puddle where the only decent choice is a Strafe RGB, fuck I just want one of those keyboards you all post but not paying double the price for it
>>
let's say someone bought a shitty chink keyboard that so far I enjoy, but I want to switch some keycaps.
How would that someone go rewcognizing the correct keycaps to buy?

Classic case or ultra compact F77?

There really doesn't seem to be much difference in size between the two, because the "ultra compact" still has giant fucking bezels. Are there exact measurements of the two somewhere? I may be blind but I didn't find any on their website.

is there anywhere i can get the filco black keycaps or a keycap with a legend similar to filco's?

Why would you want filco keycaps? They're just OEM pad printed garbage? The font isn't even special

well the font is nothing special since you can get it anywhere.
This are normally the keycaps that go on Ficlo keyboards, but I suggest you get something better

I spilled cherry soda (first time drinking soda in months) on my das ultimate and now the keys are sticky even after cleaning. That was a year ago. How do I clean this? I've been using a standard dell keyboard ever since :(
>>
>>61512464
Did you try an alcohol bath?
>>
>>61512556
I tried rubbing a qtip doused in rubbing alcohol on the switches with them pressed, not a bath. Is a bath just dunking it submerged in alcohol?
>>
>>61512618
A better solution would be to take a needle filled with 90% alcohol then injecting the affected switched and mashing the key down until its no longer sticky. If that doesn't work then desolder and solder in new switches
>>
>>61509621
Don't tell me your keyboard has a fucking remote.
>>
>>61511194
Do you want printing on them? I really wanted light lettering on black in pbt, but the only non-printed option is doubleshot since you can't dyesub light on dark.

I ended up getting these:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/double-shot-pbt-keycap-cherry-profile-rainbow-cap-for-mx-usb-mechanical-gaming-keyboard-5-5/32799680240.html

I wanted the white on black as shown here:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mechanical-keyboard-pbt-keyboarded-a-large-black-keyboard-keyboarded/32740037614.html

But I was told they were sold out even though they're still being sold REEEEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>61512687
But how else would you change the RGBT lighting on the fly :^)
>>
>>61512739
It's just so silly. Can you adjust it through software/keyboard shortcuts? 'Cause I'd lose that remote in no time.
>>
>>61512749
no and yes
