I'm trying to get a set up for a large Apt for 2 PCs to be able to game together, one directly line in into the modem and the other over power adapters. I've got 100 Mbps from Xfinity so here is the set up i'm looking at

(modem)
TP-Link DOCSIS 3.0 (16x4) High Speed Cable Modem, Max Download Speeds of 686Mbps, [$70 on amazon]

(Router for everything else)
D-Link Wireless AC1900 Dual Band WiFi Gigabit Router (DIR-880L) [$98 on amazon]

(Power Adapter for 2nd PC on other side of apt)
TP-Link AV500 Nano Powerline Adapter Starter Kit, up to 500Mbps [$33 on amazon]

Would this be viable for 2 PC's to be able to game and stream at the same time without lag?

If not what would you suggest?

I'm trying to keep my budget under or around $200.

How do i apply an overlay/watermark within ffmpeg

How the fuck do I setup a server that has all my media files on and use VLC as a thin client to consume it?

I don't want to run a laptop 24/7 with a publicly accessible port, and I assume streaming video, music from an AWS EC2 instance would cost a fuckton.

Is there a cost-effective way of doing this?

Yeah but I can't run an ethernet port across the apt to my roommates room from modem in my room. I'm on one end, he is on the other, its 1200 sq ft, we have a dog, and another 2 roomates that live and walk around that would fuck up the 40+ foot ethernet from the switch.

Wouldn't a power adaptor running through the outlets be sufficient if we have 100 mbps?

I need a home server for a task that is not CPU intensive. All it really needs is 1TB disk+ and 8gb RAM.. Others can be pretty basic, and graphic card cheapest possible.

I hate building my own PCs (I just don't enjoy the process, I'm lazy), but I do know how to do it and built many PCs successfully. - So this time I'm thinking of getting a refurbished Dell OptiPlex or something like that instead... worth it? Or better to build PC again?

I haven't built one in a long time... any recommendation on what's a good budget CPU? good HDD ? are the pre-builts silent ?

I think so, the intel 4x rj45 ports is what makes it great for routers like pfsense or sophos
and space only for notebook hdd does not make it great for NAS or such
but it comes preloaded with win7 ultimate lol so for general use it would be fine too

it has low power notebook dual cores CPUs, so its awesome that whole PC that sits there eats less than 10W
passive cooling, so no dust or fan noise.
power supply is classic brick that can be replaced if it fails... it whole feels high quality metal build

>Can't decide if it will be good enough
In respect to cpu power? Its above level of most notebooks, I think it should really breeze through some hashes on thousands of valets a minute

g4560 is currently extremely popular pentium, desktop cpu
its i3 performance for $80, it has hyperthreading enabled so 2 cores but 4 threads, like i3

with such build you also gain option to repurpose it more easily or to replace mobo it goes to shit it few years

Why is modern vidya so big? Hollow Knight, a fun indie game with sprite-based graphics, is over 8GB. And the PC remasters of Final Fantasy X+X2 are over 37GB, which is over 3x the size of the PS2 originals (1 DVD disc each, so at most they'd be less than 10GB - and they probably didn't fill the disc). Meanwhile, FFIV 3D is 777 MB, which is neat - but the DS original is 10% of this! And FFVI on PC is almost 1 GB, when the original game is the size of a MP3! It's madness. Not trying to complain, just wondering how it got like this.

Is there any difference between uninstalling and deleting app data (on android) besides the obvious still having the app?

On android 6.0 I can go Settings> Storage> Used Space> Apps, and after selecting an app can see how much "Data" it uses in hardware space. I feel a game I play on android may have some junk in "Data" due to updates, and my save is linked to my Google Play but I'm still worried I might accidentally lose it if I delete app data due to the "All of this application's data will be deleted permanently. This includes all files, settings, accounts, databses etc." warning confirmation when you try.

Sorry for the messy post, second paragraph was just giving context, so if you know what deleting app data is it's unnecessary to read...

Big textures ( take a lot of space and also a lot more polygons in your models and levels compared to what it used to be. Levels have big generated lightmaps, normals maps and so for the level stuff.

I received the same rec except with JRT on top, and it cleaned me right up even after downloading and running a generic installer from tpb which installed multiple installers only after clicking "next" in the install wizard. It was fucked.

Took multiple restarts and internet being disabled the whole time, but after three restarts of all programs finding nothing on boot, I trusted it took care of everything. JRT is pretty much built in Malwarebytes now since 2.0.
Also use uBlock Origin instead the normal adblocks so you block stuff and not only hide it.
Other than what i already mentioned there is nothing else.

Also if you have problems deleting something just enter to safe mode and disable their startup file so they cant execute on reboot again and get the PC infected again.

you only specified a single possible output filename, you can output multiple frames into the same file
you need to give it a pattern it can use to output multiple frames

originalname03.png

use "$file%02d.png"

>Wouldn't a power adaptor running through the outlets be sufficient if we have 100 mbps?

Your limiting factor isn't your subscribed internet speed, it's the quality of the electrical wiring in your apt (if you were going to use EoP)

Let's say you already bought a kit.

Run a speedtest from a computer that's hooked up via EoP and see what you get.

If you get close to 100Mbps, you should be fine, but most likely you're going to get around 20Mbps because of the quality of the electrical wiring and because you're using EoP.

If I were you, get a 802.11ac "extender" or "wireless bridge"

Something like this:

I've written some Python scripts which parse text files I receive from clients line-by-line. Current code snippet is this:

    with open(ale_path.get("fullpath"), "rU") as ale_file:
for line_count, line_text in enumerate(ale_file):

However, I need to be able to accommodate any line endings (CRLF, LF, CR). As you can see, I've been opening the files with "rU" mode for Universal line ending support, which has worked SOMEWHAT, but not 100% (particularly with Mac classic CR endings).

In researching this and trying to make it better, I've found that "rU" mode is deprecated. The recommendation has been to open as binary ("r+b") instead, but when I do that, I have LESS support for varied line endings.

Any idea what the most up to date pythonic way is to be able to handle any line endings you throw at it properly?

This way after I did a software flash for my x60T and didn't realize that a startup password set in BIOS would alter my hard drive. Thus, I couldn't complete the Libreboot flash and decided to oull the CMOS battery to try and revert to the Lenovo BIOS but it wiped the chip completely.

I was able to boot from the drive with my T60 whereas my x220 and x200 didn't allow it, even when given the correct password (T60 has a similar BIOS encryption scheme I guess?). So now, all my files are backed up and safe, but I want to wipe the password protected drive so I can start using it again. You might want to go back to generic graphics drivers before swapping over but yeah you should be fine

convert to GPT, or boot the machine in legacy BIOS mode
>>
>>61486130
Protonmail says they encrypt their messages, but you should never trust encryption that you don't have full control over. Ever. For example, they could setup some script to grab your password if they really wanted it.

Openmailbox does not claim to have encryption. But they do have a pretty good history.

Tutanota is like Protonmail.

At the end of the day, if you're just using it for signing up for accounts, get protonmail or tutanota. But if you're seriously sending e-mail, get OpenMailBox and use GPG for all your messages.

just get into BIOS to change to legacy
but can't you also convert to GPT? why use legacy?
>>
>>61487473
I can't find it in the BIOS.

I kinda got a bit ahead of myself and reformatted the hard drive and it still stayed MBR, so then I had no OS to convert it from MBR to GPT.

But I just re-installed windows 7, so now I am going to look at how to convert it to GPT

So I want to make an array with lucky numbers going up to a good length in C++. Does C have anything like streams in Java?
>>
>>61487648

>>
>>61487648

Sounds like maleware.
If you can't get rid of it via Malewarebytes, reinstall your OS.
>>

>>
>>61487716
>>61487780
If I remember correctly streams are basically an endless array you can operate on. (It's been a while since I learned them) So you could make a stream of natural numbers and then raise them to the power of two. Since lucky numbers are the ones not kicked out, I thought streams would work pretty well. But I guess one or two arrays do the trick too

>>
>>61487843
I'm not sure if any such thing exists in C++. I'd just use a sieve personally.

>>

>>
>>61488081
You want to control your mpd server, which I assume is at home, via just bluetooth? Bluetooth is short range, it won't reach outside your house. You'll need internet access, 3G/mobile works though, and only mpd (not streaming the music) isn't that costly.

So obviously Skype is proprietary and shouldn't be used by anybody since the jews have no qualms about literally selling you out. But that said is this Skype memory usage a virus?

The name would imply use of a browser in Skype but I've never even used the search function there. I tried viewing its properties in task manager when this happened, but it redirected to desktop since I'd closed Skype before trying, I suppose.

I got $20 in Amazon digital credit for using no rush shipping, any good ideas to spend it on? Most of their games seem to cost more if you go digital vs physical, especially if you get the early bird discount thing, wish I could just convert it to Steam credit or something. (I can convert it to PSN credit but that's not as useful to me and I don't have much I want to buy there at the moment anyway)
