Yeah, enjoy competing with foreign labor who can, and will, do the job for a fraction of what you're asking. Enjoy getting paid peanuts to work on projects you couldn't care less about. Wake up everyday to the joys of getting holed into languages you don't want to learn, let alone work with.

I'm glad that I'm basically a relic of a by-gone era at this point. I'm afraid I'd lose any and all passion for the job if I had to work in the current environment.

Of course there's a chance. You can work hard and achieve exactly what I mentioned in my previous post. Those, and many other headaches, are waiting for the truly ambitious to seek them out and "earn" the chance to sludge through them until retirement age. Hopefully.

I can't relate to any of these problems. I'm a domain expert at the level where you'd have difficulty finding anybody else in the whole world that knows as much as me.

More generally, I think that it's not difficult to be a good hire if you have an expertise worth paying for and good communication skills.
