I was using mpv since it's drag/drop and you can set it to default open in players so you can just browse with Windows and open that way (which is what I do anyways). But, it's command line, so to use any features more complex than opening/playing, I'd need to do that. So I went with bakamplayer since that has a nice "open copy link" option for streaming.
But it hasn't been updated in 2 years. What other mpv option should I use?

Why not just edit the .desktop file's exec line? Or create multiple for different situations?

Mpv has lots of graphical front-ends. For example: smplayer, which had been around for many more years than mpv.
