I do not think so. Why? Because there always has to be the low level guy to pin problems on and fire. Without them, the corporate ladder can't blame their incompetence on someone else and they do not want to fire each other because the only reason why they have jobs is in the first place is they knew someone. Without low level employees the cameras are on them and will be forced to do actual work. Thus why automation and AI won't take over.

Even if basic income is cheaper than a prison system, they'll go for the prisons since it allows more control. Well not really, basic income allows a shitload of control since you can cut people off if they have thoughts that disagree with the corporate agenda, but prisons have already proved to be effective at suppressing superfluous populations.
