How is WINE not native?
>>
>>61425406
The software running inside has no access to native Linux APIs.
>>
>>61424899
Why would I install Linux if I'm just going to be running a Windows simulator when Windows already natively supports Photoshop on install without any modifications?

>>
>>61424899
I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!
>>
>>61425209
there's basically no reason to upgrade to CC, they did a substantial re-write that makes them eat hot ass at multi-threading their workloads.
>>
>>61424899
Now try running an up-to-date version of Photoshop and have the same performance as on Windows :^)
>>
>>61425682

There are a lot of new features
>>
>>61424899

>>
>>61424899
But haven't you guys told me that Linux has everything Windows has, GIMP is better than Photoshop, ffmpeg is better than AfterEffects, Steam has plenty of Linux games and so on?

There are a ton of features that have been inserted since CC 2013. Illustrator-style artboards (introduced in CC 2015) are one of them that I especially like.

Instead of relying on Windows simulation software and leaving it at that for all time, why can't the Linux community focus on working with companies to get these applications working natively on Linux?

I'll try to run them on linux but why the fuck should i? I just dual-boot whenever i have to

The companies have no interest because there's no demand. Professionals are fine continuing on with mac/windows. Freetards won't want to use it either muh open source.

I wish Linux users would man up and admit it is a broken hobbyist's OS, but that they use it because of legitimate concerns over privacy and the right to control their own computer, rather than pretending it's actually a good OS with good software
>>
>>61427086
Where this meme came from? I use several windows applications with WINE and they work great. Pre-Windows 10 programs specially, sometimes have even better performance and are more stable.

>>61427167
it's not really a hobbyist's OS

If you mean by user out-of-the-box experience, yeah you could say that somehow it feels like it's a hobby

Both OSes have their places, trying to unite them or make another one which has the functionalities of both would take way more time to develop & maintain

That's the ultimate edition bundle with all sorts of DLC expansions. The standard game is $59.99.

>>
>>61424899
I mean lets get real for a moment. You install windows 10 in about 45 minutes and for most linuxes its about the same but remember. Biggest base linuxes are about 1 gigabytes or 2 while windows 10 can be more than 5 gigabytes of data. And what happens when you open them. On the linux there are about 2 functional buttons, 3 are nonfunctional and in those two buttons there are some pictures to play with. Maybe slide down or up. On windows though, you feel like a god. Its professional its fast, its all functional. You have a godlike user interface. The thing that the linux does not have. You have those two buttons in the linux, but you still search google for codes to write in terminal. Linux is free because its not worth a penny. Nobody would sell a paper without taking the money. Just not sure why people still buy android while windows phone does 10 times more. Trust me. When you work with windows you know some genius ground breaker dedicated himself to give you an operational os
