so far most of /g/ want them gone. Just unclear how to deal with them.
discussions should retain in the other thread, i'm just here to get a stronger userbase to participate. Feel free to bump every ~10 minutes.

It amazes me that you people keep pretending that this board has anywhere even close to the traffic that would make these generals become a problem. What the fuck is the problem with having threads dedicated to all kinds of issues about a subject instead of having 4579631289456710329847213984 threads asking the exact same fucking thing?

why in the world would we not keep generals
Pc building thread is handy enough I guess for new people keeps them all in one place , csg must stay if only for it's comedic value, what bothers me is threads that clearly belongs on /diy/ sitting around for hours and hours with 2 replies

Well look at Mr. Rich

This

generals highly correlate to amount of reddit infestation on a board
>>61422638
the command and conquer generals keep the board in order. If anything we should have more, like "consumerism general" (since mods won't enforce the rules) and "gaming tech general" to keep /v/tards contained, etc.
>>61423437
they keep the shills happy so they don't have to go through a board catalog looking for revelant threads. that's all the general ever are about. keeping the pajeet reddit cockroaches pleased
>>61423477
>sir pls delete. I need to promote products in generals
>>61422687
because it doesnt work like that.
since the threads exist every single day people will start running out of things to say and so it will be just a cesspool of shitpost, cancer, and reddit shills advertising shit products.
at least with /dpt/ and /sqt/ there's always something new to say like a new project you wanna share or a new stupid question you wanna ask.
>>61422638
the real answer is to roll back /g/ to 2013
removing desktop threads while allowing /wt/ and /spt/ and rampant /v/ shit/shilling was the worst thing to ever happen to this board
ban all phone posters also

>my favorite general gets a pass
don't think so tim

Can confirm for /ptg/ and, to a certain degree, /csg/. /ptg/'s problem is compounded by the fact that private trackers are the pinnacle of elitism, and that's reflected in the thread - at least on /csg/ they're pretty helpful to non-regulars.
Can confirm this is FALSE for at least /mkg/, /tpg/, /spg/, /fglt/ and /hpg/. They actually have useful discussion 99% of the time, and you see new people posting the buyer's template (in the ones that have one) and getting useful recommendations all the time, or asking for advice ranging from babby's first question about what the fuck it's all about to really annoying and in-depth problems (at least in /fglt/).
