CloverOS GNU/Linux is scripts that creates a Gentoo image and a packages repo (Binhost) that contains unique USE flags and CFLAGS. It aims to be a fast, poetterfrei, lightweight out of the box desktop.
Github readme might have the solution to your problem

Updates: Added option to put your computer to sleep, package validation, it doesn't redownload Packages every time you run emerge, cloveros_settings.sh can update itself
Todo: Make CloverOS libre version, try CloverOS with tinycore kernel config for less ram usage, 32-bit version

The point of using Gentoo was compiling shit from source.
We coped with the bullshit and instability, to have a light system we built ourselves.

>CloverOS
Have a prebuilt Gentoo, still cope with the bullshit and instability, but you don't even get to build it yourself.

You are very welcome to install Gentoo the normal way instead of Clover if you so wish, this is just an install script for justwerx purposes
>>
>>61419146
Is zsh the default shell?
>>
>>61419487
No. There's no system-wide configuration except for infinality, to keep CloverOS as vanilla Gentoo as possible.

.twmrc does launch urxvt with zsh however

>It's just a build script that just werx
>Not compatible with 32-bit CPUs
Tell me when you finally target 32-bit CPUs with low-end specs. You really shouldn't be targetting high-end specs when speeding things up is something trivial.
>>
>>61421970
Why would you run a source based distro like gentoo on a low end machine anyways? What about the long compile times?
>>
>>61422298
The goal of your OS is fast boot-up time and fast operation.

To do that, you need to develop for the worst case scenario. If you don't do that, you're just a shitty programmer who doesn't know how to prioritize.
>>
>>61422413
Here's a worst case scenario: you have to update a big package that has a security issue and need to have it done by the end of the day. How do you manage to do that on a shitbox running gentoo?
>>
>>61422490
PORTAGE_BINHOST="https://cloveros.ga" emerge -G libreoffice
>>
Libreoffice is the most time consuming package and it still finishes in under an hour on a FX-8350.
>>
>>61422490
>Implying CloverOS is stable enough for office use
Project owner confirmed for retard.
>>
>>61422490
>Security issue
>On a Linux OS
Where's you God now? At leas MS gives you an update that takes between 30 minutes to an hour.
>>
>>61423033
It's stable as long as you treat it like Gentoo.

It's not stable in the sense that the default rice keeps changing.
>>
>>61423059
So you mean it can't run or be used for basic office work, in an office environment, nor can it be updated in good time like any other Linux distro.

So what's the main selling point for a business office to run a shitty Gentoo rehash they found on a 4chan thread?
>>
>>61423101
If you add xinit /usr/bin/startkde to .bash_profile, nobody's gonna give a shit what distro it is. It updates with a simple
emerge --sync && emerge -uvDN world
in minutes if your mirror is set to a local one.

Yeah just like the last ransomeware attacks that were crippling macroshit systems for days, right? Let's also not forget the hilarious threads were wangblows manchildren search for the specific security update file because windows is the only garbage os that is so malicious that their users have to disable automatic updates :^).
>>
>>61422843
>>61423131
Why use a source based distro if you would use precompiled packages anyways?
>>
>>61423267
It's pre-riced. Someone else did the work for you, and you can do the work yourself if you choose. The aim is an easy base install and a fast distro. It's like asking why Arch has packages when there's the AUR.
>>
>>61420397
This is a really primitive and bad way to try to get clean selections.
>>
>>61420397

Nah, the atom I have is one of the original shit ones; in all its glorious 1.6ghz. Figure it'd take a few days to compile my kernel.

Yes... On fast hardware when you'd think the goal is to make a fast distro on older hardware to keep it more future-proof.
>>
>>61426549
See >>61425639
Atoms are still 65-bit, including the older single-core Atoms at 1.6 GHz.

You are already fucked if you used wangblows, but you are beyond saving if you actually paid to take the nsa/windows cock up your ass. You seem to be lost, you can go back to >>>/v/ now.
>>
>>61426629
Really? I figured it'd be 32bit since it came with xp on it. I'll give. A 64-bit os a shot later, I guess. Seems a bit silly with 1gb of ram, but maybe the extra instructions will make it a bit more usable.
