Can someone tell me, without operating an exit node, could an external actor such as an ISP know you are using tor by traffic analysis?

the security agencies have several exit nodes to do traffic analisys, but this only works if youre using normal websites.
If youre using tor to go on tor websites then the traffic never leaves the network and so its impossible to track it.

dont use tor for clearnet, theres literally no reason to
only browse onionsites
then the only way they can track you is by browser exploits
like when freedom hosting went down, they used a vuln in the js library, and after that everyone started blocking scripts
its funny though, that vuln has long been fixed, and theres no way to identify anyone using js anymore
