Would you buy an ASRock motherboard or a GIGABYTE motherboard?
Gigabyte, I've only used Gigabyte mobos in my personal builds and I've never had a problem.
I bought my dad an ASRock mobo once and it died within a few months.

before 2012 or after?
pre 2012 = asus owned

Asrock only, gigabyte sucks. Had one for my fx 8320 with the 970 chipset, the piece of shit had a hardware bug in the IOMMU, it wouldn't even install debian if I didn't turn IOMMU off and the usb drivers would still do weird shit and it was just no. Then they just abandoned it by never doing any bios updates and redoing it as a rev 2. never again.
Got an x370 asrock now, works really well, lots of updates, lots of features, nice stuff.

>t. GIGABYTE shill

my asus motherboard from 2011 just died

>ITT: Anecdotal evidence
For reals though, Gigabyte has a much more lenient and inclusive warranty than Asrock.
They both have made shit products in the past

Not OP
Which motherboard vendor has excellent customers support, e.g. warrany related stuff ?
anything but gigabyte and asus.
asrock/msi/evga are my go to boards, never had an issue with them.
gigabyte? not for b350.
asrock has best b350/x370
Bought two ASSrock motherboards, they both are still working perfectly. The software is clunky but the hardware is solid.

My ASRock motherboard is still ok.

You can treat it up to a point where tests can no longer detect it but you can be sure that there are still a handful of those bastards lurking within the blood stream.
ASRock any day over Gigabyte. I always felt my dollar went a little further with ASRock (hardware-wise)... but to be fair that magazine shaped southbridge cooler looked pretty slick on that one Gigabyte mobo.

>bought Gigabyte board
>their software suite literally throttles the CPU by like 40% in half the benchmark tests
>incredibly noticeable in real life tasks despite being an i7
>only found out that was the issue after hours of troubleshooting because someone posted about it on a forum like three weeks earlier
Never again. I can't even use half the features on the board now, I should have returned it.

My 2500k is on an AsRock board. Been running 4.6Ghz for years with no problem.
When I upgrade to Zen I'll be getting a Taichi.

Why byu either if you can get an ASUS one?
Abit Rocks

dependsAsrock has good upper teir boards but shit lower end and best bios support and fast update software.
Gigabyte as good board but poor bios support.
On overclocking I think gigabyte takes the cake on intel but not on AMD
Asrock is good on AMD but shit on Intel.
meh I don't lads and ladies I just say'n muh 2 cents.
