Member the desktop compiz cube, freetards?
Makes me cringe to remember how proud you were of your 3d Cubes.
How many of you use the revolutionary Cube desktop?
>>
Yeah I always found it funny when people would act like this was a selling point for Unix-like. Shit looks hideous and runs like shit.

You can always tell if it's open source because the neckbeard programmers try to make up for a lack of proper graphics designer by ricing it up with shitty effects and making everything customizable and forcing you to write config files

I remember some autist when I was a freshman bragging about how good linux was because it had woobly windows.

I though it was stupid as fuck then and I didn't know much of anything about tech then.

>woobly windows.
IIRC this also minimized all other windows, something windows does as well now. Why anyone would grab a window and shake it instead of pressing superkey + D is beyond me though.

Also, was it KDE that advertised themselves as the DE for people with other things to do than wobble their windows?

God this reminds me of those office wallpapers you would see at least twice in a desktop thread where they had all their icons on shelves and the corkboard.

Me too, went as far as trying the alpha that was completely useless. It was too hard on resources for pcs at the time.
Never knew what happened to it, was it killed by compiz?
>>

i used this

that really takes me back

Probably still a feature in kde, havent tried plasma 5 but it could be enabled in kde 4+

Jesus fucking Christ, that looks like dogshit. Don't these people realize you need to low-pass the images in order to avoid that insane aliasing?

Windows & OSX got it right on their first attempt, Linux like always does a poor copy completely missing the fine details.

I installed that back when I was 11 (circa) and deleted it promptly along with the operating system that housed it
I had a hard on for os x which would probably be considered worser

I never understood this virtual desktop meme.
>stack all of my windows on top of eachother and spread them over to a second/third monitor if I have one
>able to easily and instantly find anything I need
>the most simple use of layout allows me to see the important parts of every open program while I work, so I can always remain aware of what's going on
>coworkers use virtual desktops
>any time they need to find something that's not on the current desktop they have to flip fucking channels and get lost going back and forth between the different desktops
>takes 4-5x longer to find anything
>out-of-sight, out-of-mind, they completely forget that anything exists outside of their current desktop
>>
>>61375641
MUH SPINNAN CUBES
>>
>>61375641
I remember trying this on some distro during alpha or beta stage just out of curiosity because Windows didn't have that feature and saw no reason to use it other than ricing purposes. Had a lot of free time after dropping out of high school to dick around with Linux on the family computer for a night, then reinstall Windows and reconfigure everything back to normal before my mom woke up. Those were strange times; I remember reinstalling Windows XP at 3 A.M. in August 2006 while having to watch my beloved hamster die of an incurable disease. Had to provide palliative care while setting up a fresh Windows XP installation.

He died with a stomach full of most of a grape, his favorite fruit.

I never found any use for multiple monitors. Looks and feels autistic. Turning your head repetitively throughout the work day hurts your neck.

>completely forget that anything exists outside of their current desktop
If you're not fucking retarded, this is a non-issue.
>>
>>61381578
you had to restart your computer 5 times in the process of taking that screenshot and posting it.

>>61381622
nope. takes up space and looks retarded. can't help but wonder why retards like you don't just get bigger screens. but then again you're probably the type to buy autistic "gayming cases" with glowing neon lights and shit.

Open file manager
Turn on thumbnails
Drag image to image box on 4chan
Done

Using one 40" monitor is equivalent to four 20" monitors, difference is that you're stuck with one fuckhuge panel instead of four smaller ones that you can individually place and angle. I'll take the four 20" monitors any day.
