FreeBSD is so much nicer than any Linux distro that I just can't find the reason why it's a lot less developed for.
I mean, ZFS is like the sexiest file system right now...

What if I build a system from the ground up, with FreeBSD in mind? No gaming in mind. Mostly for archiving files, using that awesome ZFS, oh, and browsing 4chan, of course.

I believe that if you have storage oriented system in mind - FreeBSD is better.
If you have compatible hardware there is just no reason why you can't have awesome experince with this system.
