3U can still be used as normal case.

Silverstone made the GOAT case and instead of updating it and fixing a few minor issues they release retarded designs.
Also how come no one has tried something similar? It's clear that bigger but fewer fans improves temps while lowering noise.
Just buy this prebuilt-class chassis and be done with it, OP.
Just watch out: the mobo tray has no cut-out nor does it have cable management.
>>61325876
Silverstone FT02
>>61325926

I've got the "gamer" version of this, Silverstone rv02 in white with a window. The rotated Mobo and temps are fantastic but I'm tired of the aesthetic. Pic related
Pic related is my passive 7700k build. Basically a travel/work ITX PC. 100% silent and beautiful
>>61325869
This case (and I own it) would've been perfect without the plastic glass bs. If you're gonna cheap out on the window, just don't include the window man.
i've posted this before, i really hope someone can recommend something.
apparently these have been discontinued and they don't fit modern gigantic cards but i really like the form factor because it doesn't try and conceal its ports behind a pointless door.
optical drive bay is non-negotiable.

Its a super cheap ATX case from 2001. With some dremeling you can probably throw EATX in it. It also has a removable motherboard tray.
>>61325561
This is the case of all cases. Good ventilation, good space, good design, built like nothing else for the money.
This is the case people buy first, get tired of and return back to when they realise other cases are bad, flimsy and ugly.

Cooltek W2 is pretty close to perfect if Jonsbo had designed the interior just a little better and more compact. You could squeeze something like 5cm from width so it wouldn't be as blocky. Silverstone FT3 is another almost perfect case.
>>61326723
Same, it's a great case though?
I guess it has a bit of that gaymur image but it is still a beautiful case that is a joy to build in. I love the fact that the psu is hidden so well and the noise cancellation plus the silent fans it has makes it a really nice case. modular harddrive bays are also a nice touch.

Got the Corsair 200R for about £38 in 2014, a cheap case that has enough 2.5" and 3.5" hard drive bay, compact ATX, can fit cables on the back and doesn't look like gamer shit.
OEM cases off Ebay

>>61324731
My mom is a graphic designer and her company has about 10 of these sitting around collecting dust since they've upgraded to imacs since then. How hard would it be to mod a standard atx motherboard into there? I love the aesthetics of those
>>61325547

>>61328180
Hard. You have to cut off the back and make new mobo mounting holes. Also the PPC community will hate you.
>>61325830
The PSU that comes with that thing is louder than my car. Would be nice if it wasn't full of super sharp edges on the inside as well.
>>61328204
That's too bad, those really are great looking cases. The only recent case that captures that same look is the Enthoo evolv, but still isn't as good imo
>>61325863
Mini ITX is great even with a (single) GPU. I use pic related, but I replaced the mesh with a black panel because it actually improves cooling performance and makes it look nicer. It was super cheap too. If I actually had a stable wage I'd upgrade to an ncase m1 though.

Is it made differently than the Define XL R2 and the Define XL R2? I use the first for my desktop and the other for my server. I've never had the door on any of them just open by accident. It actually takes a bit of force and effort to open the doors on these.
The XL R2 seems to be held closed just by magnets, though. The door on the Define R5 actually fastens into pieces of plastic.
I'm actually curious, I've never tried the R4.
Please don't bully me for going with the windowed version of the R5.

I think this case is shit. It looks very similar to my first Fractal case - which my brother now has. I'm fairly sure this is the one with two HDD bays at the top and two at the bottom?
Anyway, I didn't really like this. It's like a cheap-out version of the Define R5 with all the good featuers missing. It's also not very wide so there's not that much room behind the motherboard.

Piece of garbage. I have the similar Cooler Master N600 in the basement, it's also a piece of garbage. Every single Cooler Master case I've ever had came with fans with very noisy motors (so they make a lot of noise even at very low speads) and they are just horrible in general. I was the 2nd person in the USA to own a Corsair 900d.
It has some serious fucking flaws for a $300 case
1.No mid plate, forced me to make one
2.Shit placement of rubber gromets, forced me to make my own pannel
3. Front panel blocks 75% of the front airflow. Forced me to Lazer 1/4in holes in it just 2 get air past the front fans.
4. Shit placement for the top dust filters
5.bottom radiator locations are shit and block access to the power supply
6.top has shit locations for a 480 rad
7.side panel has to be polished to look good
8. Bottom pannels bend easily and won't close.
It's a poorly thought out case, but it's a modders dream.
Pic is what it originally looked like years ago
>>61330914
Used to have one of those.
Pros: Your room will be clean.
Cons: You need to clean the computer every day since that fucker inhales every spic of dust in a 5 mile radius.
It has legendary airflow tho.
>>61332865
That case had a lot of potential but he decided to go with such a boring and bland layout so it's going to be overpriced shit. So much potential thrown out the window. This is why you don't design a case by committee.
ok, so you kids like boxes.
no need to be all condescending about it. The gaymur transformers case boogieman is a thing of the past. The black monolith is the new gaymur case. I mean, it literally is. All the gaymur kids who think minimalism is a substitute for life experience use black monolith cases, so there you have it.

I still got the normal 750 and even though i could have gotten the front panel for more airflow, i didn't.I'm using the top for the 280 rad anyways. The main reason i got it is because i already have 3 2.5" SSDs and i don't need that gayming shit.Plus that i will move by car the PC and tempered glass won't be that worth it.Besides the CPU cooler i don't have anything rgb in my setup.

>got a minimum wage job and assigned to a Dell slim/sff pre-built
>actually grew a thing for slim/pizza box cases
And that's how I picked this case. There's room for 2 3.5 hdd slots and a half-height gtx 1050ti. The width is about 10cm so the case can be doubled as a headphone stand.

The noise cancellation is nice but it's huge as fuck and costed me a lot of nerves due to that.
>move out from home for work during the week
>take this motherfucking huge PC with me every week
>it doesn't fit into the trunk, so it needs to be on the passenger seat
>repeat for 2 months
Eventually I fell for the meme and bought a Thinkpad.
>>61328198
Would be cool if it had coolers in the barrels and rotated to cool the radiators.
>>61332865
This thing looks so good, the internals and it being an ATX isntead of mATX seems a little strange, doesn't seem to be any room for HDD storage either
>>61327847
Holy shit i was just planning on getting a mITX case from that very same brand. How's the quality? Were you able to manage cables properly?
>>61327113
It's fuckhuge and looks ugly, especially after seeing it every day for a few years.
>>61327370
It's fuckhuge and it was my first build so I wanted to have a very comfortable amount of space. I was also like 14 at the time, had never touched a PC component before, and was quite apprehensive, so trying to cram things and wires into a cramped build wasn't something I'd have appreciated.
Plus I got a giant 3-slot GPU because it was actually one of the better-value options.
>>61327949
It's called Cooler Master High Air Flow so you know it's good :^)
In all seriousness it probably depends a lot on your setup. I have an H100i for no reason whatsoever (see above, I was 14 or so at the time), and after an extended period of Prime95 I'm getting like 50-55*C and it's only loud enough to be noticeable, with (fully open) headphones on and some video/game playing it doesn't bother me at all. At idle it's nearly silent - my Wii U is about comparable.
It's pretty big and decently well-designed so as long as you configure your fan curves correctly and have good fans you shouldn't be too bothered. It's not like you can get a fully silent PC under load without laptop-style throttling unless you use like liquid nitrogen or really meme fans with a huge radiator or something like that.
I own a r5 but I can still hear the noise
is there like a way to turn it off or are my standards too high and u will always listen a pcs noise?

It's the smallest mITX case that has strong compatibility with all typical components. It will fit standard ATX PSUs, it will fit standard length (10.5 inch) video cards with regular blower designs or less outlandish 3rd party coolers. It has more 2.5" spaces than its competitors (3 total.) You can fit a 120/140mm fan in the front as well as an AIO cooler which is actually the intended usage of the design since the maximum CPU cooler height is 60mm. The whole thing's only 11.5 litres, it'll fit in carry on luggage just fine. And it's only like £40. I can't wait to put mine together while keeping everything except the GPU (I have a stupid oversized one in an eGPU config) when I get back to my place of origin.
>>61324263
How do I get one of these without the retarded pricing
>>61340195
If your fans are PWM you should be able to control them through the BIOS/motherboard utility or a program like Speedfan.
>>61339757
Quality seems very $50. I think It gains much more rigidity from the parts in it.
If I had a semi/fully modular psu, my life would be much easier. This case has been the gem of my eye for a while so I'm considering buying replacement wire set for a HX520w I have in a corner and shortening all the wires to about 4-8 inches. My overall goal is to do the same thing with a fully modular SFX power supply.
Basically, you are on your own when it comes to cable management.
Wish I had got this over Corsair shit
>>61340223
depending on the motherboard, non-PWM fans can be also controlled
while some cheaper motherboards have 4-pin PWM headers but don't actually apply PWM
You know your obsession with NOT having you system look like a gaming computer kind of gives away the fact you still define your use of all computers through that lens.
If you weren't obsessed by it you wouldn't care what it looked like.
I've built PCs since I was a kid and like looking at my components and being able to see at a glance if it requires cleaning. Being obsessed with muh minimalism, no windows, no lights indicates you want to pretend you don't even care about your hardware or cable management.
In which case you're saying you don't want to be a PC hobbyist, in which case why the fuck are you even here?
>>61324263
>Get memed into upgrading from a Coolermaster 912 HAF with 2x200mm fans, was quiet but ugly as fuck, to this Phanteks P400s.
It looks alright and was silent until I loaded it with static pressure fans. Now you can hear the fucking wind drag at the front. Gonna start looking for a mesh front/top real soon. And I found out I can't top mount a radiator.
>>61326766
>>61326809
Always gets a chuckle out of me how Corsair didn't think things through.
>Hey let's make a case with all ports on the right side
>Good idea, so it sits at the left of the user. Now all it needs is a window
>Got you, we're releasing it right away.
>...
>Oh, right
>>61326834
This is nice, how can I get one?
>>61325926
I like the monolithic style of this one.
>>61340398
>being able to see at a glance if it requires cleaning
Perhaps if you paid a little more attention to design when you were "building" your PC you wouldn't need to obsess about the need to clean it.
I have professionally designed and built computers that seldom if ever need cleaning. Design is how it works.

Why the hell do some of these have like 5 5.25' drive bays? It's not like modern mobos have floppy controllers anymore, so that leaves you with:
>Bluray/DVD drive
>SD/USB hub
>>61347437
It is ATX, but it's just a concept right now:

>>61349158
QFT.
I went ITX, and boy was that ever a mistake! I once brought a girl home, and the second she saw my tiny case she laughed in my face and left. I felt so bad I got on Amazon right then and there and bought pic related.
Now when I bring women home and they see my giant case they can't keep their hands off me! Take it from me - don't make the same mistake I did. Join the big case master race, or live to regret it.
>>61328800
I have a case exactly like that
>>61324367
It's only loud when it starts up. But it is loud. It sounds like it shouldn't be on the desk anymore after it starts. A solid 3-5 seconds of it.
After that it's completely silent
>>61346804
I like minimal, utilitarian and industrial design. A featureless, metal box is perfect. I also keep my case to the right of my desk, out of sight and I don't post in /bst/. Imagine!
