What are you hoping to do with the degree?
>>
What is a Bachelor of IT?
If it's practical computer use and operation that's not something a University should be teaching and I am completely unsurprised that it's where they funnel all the people too braindead for CS.

Consider a technical school.

If CS is theory, then a degree in IT is practice. It's good for people who will make a career out of technical support and don't need to learn algorithms or how a compiler works.

Cybersecurity eventually. In my work they're starting to standup a bunch of cybersecurity roles, I want to sideways transfer
>>
>>61318158
It's the new meme for computer science people who can't code. Don't get what kind of job you can get from it but it's the most useless
>>
>>61318185
> cybersecurity
> with an it degree

That's real bad
>>
>>61318216

Why so?
>>
>>61318220
ITT Tech is to MIT as an IT degree is to Computer Science
>>
>>61318191
First all the maths had to be removed from CS, now they're not expected to code either.
What's left?
>>
>>61318285
being able to install a keyboard and mouse
>>
>>61318123
>> be me
>> comfy well paying job
>> recently promoted, job is now easier and pays even better

I want this, I want this so bad.
There's so much I want to do, but I'm worried about finishing uni and having no time to do what I want. At least I'll be working with electronics mostly.

Best jobs I ever had were IT jobs at non-IT companies

The entire office emptied out right at 5pm, not a minute later. Never overtime. Worst part was having to work with hateful and creepy people. But I had a good thing going and made a mistake quitting from those jobs for a higher salary at shitty abusive tech companies.
>>

wtf?? python is like the easiest language ever. Now haskell. That's some sadomasochist shit

Cybersecurity would benefit more from a rigorous CS degree with a focus on operating systems and networks than anything else. There is a large chasm between the guys writing exploits, reverse engineering, and making signatures/analysis and the guys implementing it in their organization. Most "security" work is mind numbingly retarded and fit for people who don't know shit but like to complain about pedantic configurations sniffed out by their auditing tool suite without really thinking for themselves.

If you really want to get into security, do yourself a favor and get into reverse engineering. If not, just walk away from it all together.
