High Sierra looks decent, they are also adding VR support through SteamVR, which means more GPU support for our Hackintoshers :^)

High Sierra has a new file system, APFS, which is like ZFS, into the mainstream. No other mainstream OS has changed the file system in a long time, that includes Wangblows with NTFS. Shadow copy, etc. etc are amazing features under the hood that mainstream consumers won't notice but appreciate.

High Sierra is supposed to be like El Capitan and Snow Leopard.

While I agree OS X releases used to be more fun when iOS wasn't a priority, I think it's fine and under the hood features are welcome.

Radeon 580 on an iMac is pretty decent (it's a bit faster than the RX480). It's obviously not a 1080 or 1080Ti but it's not bad for VR gaymen.

Also eGPU is officially supported via Thunderbolt 3 so fucking kys. TB4 in the near future should have 100% PCIe bus usability for GPUs, instead of losing 20% performance with TB3.

I'm about to get a 2017 MBP and can't wait to build an eGPU setup with a 1080Ti.

Nope, it's great. Who cares if it's 3rd party. 3rd party apps that change systemwide functions are so great in macOS. They just werk.

If you try to change systemwide functions in WinLEL with some 3rd party app, prepare your anus. It will be buggy as fuck and probably modify system files and make shit all function wrong. WinLEL is built on WinNT legacy from the 90s. macOS is built on a modern FreeBSD layer with Unix like features.

I'll take a mainstream Unix-like OS over WinLEL any day of the week, thank you very much.

The only time I boot into Winshaft on my Hackintosh is to play gaymen and VR, and lately haven't had time to do that either.

All machines run WinLEL and WinLEL versions of Media Encoder (probably under CUDA).

It's always been a known fact that Adobe doesn't optimize for macOS, so it's not fair.

No, Adobe just doesn't optimize their applications for macOS and this is a known issue because Adobe is shit in general, but they have the monopoly just like Intel so they can do whatever the fuck you want as much as we whine and cry about it.

Apple uses AMD GPUs nowadays, so it will use OpenCL and Adobe doesn't even optimize for OpenCL.

CUDA is way faster. I have 980Tis in my Hackintosh and use CUDA and it's fast as fuck on macOS, but on the laptop mine is an AMD gpu so only OpenCL.

Go try FCPX and see how fast that thing is on a MacBook Pro, it literally wipes Adobe Premiere and encoding times from Media Encoder with the floor because it's heavily optimized for AMD compute superiority and Intel QuickSync.

Not at all. HFS is 30 years old just like NTFS.

Also Apple moved hundreds of millions of devices (iOS) to APFS in a manner of a .1 delta upgrade overnight. Can any other company state that?

APFS will be used in High Sierra, which is heavily optimized for SSDs.

Do you really think you know more about file systems than file systems engineers?

I don't know if Windows phone would have failed. To be entirely fair, Apple was only able to pull it off because of how limited the end user is in regards to accessing and modifying HFS+ on an iPhone. Google is a lot more fragmented, so it would be a nightmare. I suspect this is why Apple has not pushed it out as as an update to MacOS yet.

It's one hell of a file system, and it is moderately impressive than an OTA update was able to pull that off, but its only due to the limitations of iOS.

Having a closed file system is not really a limitation. I welcome it I have too much private data on my phone and don't want any backdoors.

However, their new Files app should allow local (non root level) access and regular file support. I hear it also supports FLAC files and other stuff built in. And you can save files from a browser. Although sandboxed, it's welcome.

I used to Jailbreak and access the root and literally didn't care for it after a while.

I also had android and Winshit Mobile devices before and my documents folders and root folders were all trash level and I Never organized.

I literally dual boot WinLEL 10 with macOS on my Hackintosh and every time I'm in WinLEL I want to vomit and cant wait to reboot back into macOS for it's superior interface.

I also have a MacBook Pro for mobile work and I will never install Winshit on this thing.

I pity you more because you're unedcuated and close minded. You're probably an Indian too and have dark skin and white palms. How do you live with yourself? And you smell too.

The OP video is native. Snapping is not built in although windows do snap together. BetterSnapTool has been here for years and it's a great little tool.

And macOS has built in video capture at 60fps at native res with QuickTime Player.

Yeah, well it seems that we agree.

I have my qualms about Apple and I hate that Tim Cuck is the CEO and I think he's a literal faggot. If they ever dump the Mac I will leave their ecosystem.

I still think it's jaw droppingly impressive that they did a complete FS switch via a simple .1 delta update. It's literally idiot proof (which most consumers are anyway, regardless of /g/'s opinion on things).

95% of the users are fucking idiots out there, even Winshaft users are mostly morons. /g/ is not a barometer for the PC industry, we're literally 1-3% of the whole industry.

So I don't know why /g/ is always surprised when companies like Microshaft and Apple cater to the lowest common denominator.

I guess this is why Lelnux is so popular here because these nerds think they're important just because they can install .pkg via terminal.

Your posts reek of reddit, you write like a twelve year old, you lie on the internet about irrelevant things and you shill a product as if you were being paid to do so, undoubtebly doing it for free. Once again: I pity you for willingly using an inferior product because constant propaganda and social pressure made you buckle under its weight. You bought into it, and now you've sunk so much money into your unupgradable hardware that's slowly but surely becoming obsolete prompting you to buy a brand new machine at a far too high cost, that you feel the need to constantly defend your poor decision online because you know deep down inside that you bet on the wrong horse. I'm sure you'll grow out of it, though. God speed, anon.

Yeah and the irony is a majority of the money goes to advertising not even the parts. It's the same thing for desktops as it is phones. Apple just uses aesthetics and hipster advertising to try and make everyone "think different"

You have no idea what it takes to create a proper UI/UX. There are certain rules and standards. I would post you studies and research but I doubt you would read it.

You're just here to hate on Apple and shitpost to make yourself feel better.

There are companies like Frog Design who spent like 50 years studying human behavior and usability for interfaces. Apple uses companies like these. Microshaft is finally realizing how important design research is but they keep fucking it up because it's run by Pajeets and they have terrible programming/design/business skills.

Winshaft 10 is a fucking joke and anyone who disagrees is a liar and a scumbag. I'm not even talking about how much of a Botnet it is, I'm just saying as a "modern" operating system it's a complete joke and makes no sense at all.

People are just complacent and have to use it because of the gaymen meme and Microshaft office.

Depends what you mean by "Winshit," as I'm MOSTLY with you, even having known nothing but Windows while I grew up. 7 is the only modern Windows OS I can stand to use in any capacity, which is why I made the leap to Linux Mint, and have been happy as a pig in shit (its actually a LOT better than Win7 in a lot of ways, if you don't need shit that requires Windows to run. But yeah, I won't even bother trying to fix someone's busted Windows 8/8.1/10 Windows, and if it's XP, I just reinstall vanilla XP Pro from a disk I got for 10 bucks in college and charge them 50 bucks.

I think if you try to spec out a Mac with similar PC specs they will come close in price.

The problem with Apple is they don't update too often and the price isn't justified. Like the 2013 Mac Pro is completely not worth it for the money, that's why I built a Hackintosh with a 6700k and OC'd it to 4.5Ghz and I get 20,000 in Geekbench which is great enough for me.

And I can update my Dual 980Ti's to something else later if needed. Although I wouldn't mind a 7820x in the near future as I need more coarz.

I didn't mind 7, desu, but when Microshaft went full retard with 8, 8.1 and 10 I started laughing at them again. I'm not even gonna talk about Vista.

Win7 wasn't trying to "hard" or be the "cool hip" kid on the block. Win10 is trying to be too much like Apple and no one can be like Apple. Everyone tries and fails.

I would only use Lelnux if it had actual commercial software support and not some obscure garbage like GIMP or Blender which nobody fucking uses.

I guess Lelnux is fun to use if you want to tinker with things....but I don't really have time with that shit.

That's fine, but you can't deny how important it is in the industry even if it's under 10% the whole industry in terms of usage. It's the only mainstream Unix-like system and if it disappeared it would be sad and Microshaft would dominate it with their degenerate OS.

The best part is the animations. Even looking at them through your webm they are smoother than my windows animations are at 144hz.
Not just the slow grow/shrink animation but the way the windows move, it looks way better than Window's compositor.
MacOS didn't have tiling features like that back in the day but it had almost everything else in fucking TIGER version 10.4 and it's only competition was WINDOWS XP. At that point in time macs are head and shoulders above everything else for home computing. I was a total fanboy but it is different now. Think about how barebones XP was, it didn't even have a system wide search, horrible ugly UI, no compositing, no animations. Yet MacOS was more or less the same it is today.
Look at this laptop. MacOS features, removable battery, incredible design, thin for the time, magsafe, first laptop with built in web cam, god tier track pad, trivial to service HDD and RAM. It's competition was composed of lumbering XP machines.

By the time Microshaft had WinLEL XP in beta, Apple already had 10.1 out and was killing the game with a Unix-like OS with a very beautiful Aqua interface and USB support as well as DV support. Final Cut was king and WinLEL was a joke.

Except if you hadn't been born within the last 10 years you'd know that both XP and 10.1 were released on the same date
The only difference is that while XP received updates and service packs to fix whatever slight mishap might've gotten past testing, 10.1 still remained a flimsy piece of shit
And it really shows, too, Apple still hasn't been able to produce a device that is capable of more than just browsing facebook without shitting itself miserably

Yeah I know about quartz. As I said back then I was a huge fanboy. I was young and enthusiastic and when I finally got my first mac the feeling of being totally justified in my opinions by using it side by side a XP machine was just so great.
The apple laptop totally changed the market forever because it was just that fucking good. Objectively superior. Centered trackpads, big trackpads, web cam, appealing ratio between keyboard and trackpad, magsafe(they never could copy this), actual attention paid to how it looks. The unibody white MacBook was the pinnacle of laptops for me. It's my x220 or whatever the thinktraps fap over.
That's just hardware. Lets look at what Apple put out in competition with XP. Spotlight smart google-instant style searching, widgets, "expose" and binding it to the corners of the screen, minimize/restore animations, compositing as a whole(OS X had it before beryl for linux), I could go on and on.
To be clear I am no longer an Apple supporter nor do I own any of their products. I am waiting for them to hopefully turn around and start releasing machines that I want to buy. They stop paying attention to the mac because the sales fall but the sales are falling because they stopped paying attention!

No, Cheetah (OS X 10.0) came out 6 months before in 2001, WinLEL XP which was in Beta. It was the first "mainstream" OS after WinME which was a complete debacle.

You seem to give an awful lot of fucks, my point with RHEL is that linux is not obscure like you claim. Thousands of people have been turned onto Mint, Debian, Manjaro, CentOS, Fedora, etc. Linux is not obscure as a whole. There are plenty of distros with worldwide followings and communities behind them. Anything that has as much fracture in terms of how many Linux distros are out, some are bound to be obscure but to paint all of GNU/Linux as obscure is fucking asinine but I wouldn't expect a mactoddler to begin to even understand that. Last (you) from me, I'm just going to laugh at your ass while it spergs out.

Hmm so let's see:

Windows:
-paid, expensive -1
-runs on anything (but not properly on older machines) +1
-high performance on applications since most of them are optimized mainly for windows +1
-huge community +1
-horrendous UI -1

Mac:
-either requires you to download it on a VM or to own a mac beforehand -1
-runs on pretty much only apple hardware and some specific motherboards/GPU/CPU combos -1
-only has good performance on apple applications or software from companies that actually care about macOS -1
-small community that doesn't help that much -1
-amazing UI +1

Linux:
-free +1
-runs on anything (even older machines) +2
-poor performance on applications running through wine -1
-stable depending on distro and how you use it +1
-can be rebuilt to work again easily if anything goes wrong +1
-HUGE community support +1
-can be customized to the point of looking even better than macOS +2

I think you can clearly see who's the winner at this point.

What mouse? There are retail Logitech drivers for macOS on their website. I use an older G500 mouse and it works well. Back/Foward is for going back and forwards in a browser and finder windows.

It's $2.99 desu. You'll thank me later. There's also BetterTouchTool which is amazing.

Also I recommend Little Snitch, there literally is no equivalent for it in WinLEL. It's one of the best applications I've ever purchased.

I also use TeamViewer (Free) to control different computers, including my Hackintosh remotely.

I'm glad you're using IINA, it's way better than VLC even in "beta" phase.

Also download Blue Harvest, which gets rid of .dstore files when you mount SMB points.

I can give you a list if you're interested.

I literally started it a couple hours ago. It wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be, biggest pain in the ass was probably borrowing my brothers MBP to download the OS. I kinda got lucky and had mostly hardware that was compatible with macOS already though.

Display was kinda fucky at first, but that was a pretty easy fix, just had to download Nvidia's driver.

The biggest issue you will have are Audio drivers, wich TonyMacFag "Patches" with Multibeast.

I always do "vanilla" installs, ie, kexts are loaded on the fly from the EFI partition.

Look into AppleALC:
https://github.com/vit9696/AppleALC

For other stuff like WiFi+BT, it depends on which card you have. Some work out of the box (PCIe ones) so no drivers required.

Ethernet is super easy, just drop in something like IntelMausi.kext into the "OTHERS" kext folder on the EFI partition. It's actually pretty easy.

Once you set everything up including iMessage if you need it, just clone with the free Clone Zilla tool and you're good to go. I just keep a second SSD with the same size as the boot macOS drive (it could be a cheaper drive on sale) and clone every few months or after an OS update just in case anything goes wrong, I can clone back to the main NVMe SSD that macOS resides on or just boot off of it. I keep the SATA power cable on the clone drive disconnected.

Yeah, I have a USB DAC so I got to bypass the audio shit entirely. Looked like it had the potential to be a bit of a mess if I didn't.

Did exactly that for Ethernet, knew I had to before installing so I had the file handy. Seems to be working completely fine.

I'll have to look into the cloning. I only have two relatively small SSDs and would like to keep Windows for now as I still do play vidya often, but the first impression of MacOS is pretty strong for me.

Going to fuck around with homebrew next, maybe screw with Xcode tomorrow.

Nice! Enjoy anon. There's a lot of "power" under the hood and you can do that through Terminal if you're familiar with #bash. There's a lot of settings that can change the way macOS functions but out of the box it's pretty neat for a mainstream OS.
