What's the deal with those new Apollo Lake(7th gen) CPU/GPU combo?
This one for instance
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/J4205-ITX/index.asp
The GPU is slower than the older 2014 J1800 model
According to Intel, the newer Pentium J4205 GPU is rated at 250 MHz while Celeron J1800 from 2013 is 688 MHz
So why would they release a newer CPU w/integrated GPU if the GPU clock is way lower?
By going W I D E R (more shader cores, etc) with lower voltage and a slower clock, you can get good performance with less heat because heat increases almost exponentially with clockspeed and voltage
Compare for example an RX460 and an RX480. To reach the same speeds, the 460 would need ludicrous liquid nitrogen cooling, while the 480 could underclock and undervolt and still be faster with less heat and power.

This.
That's why the first to make MCM GPU will win the market.
The GPU is much newer Gen9 design which is more efficient than Gen7 in Bay Trail

>Graphics Burst Frequency 800 MHz
Also you're wrong, it's 800MHz, which means it's faster than J1800's GPU

>Burst
Only for short periods, most of the time the clock stays lower than J1800's GPU.
Also the CPU speed is slower than j1800 and j1900

Looks like a great machine for a NAS that can sit in a cupboard with no airflow without overheating.

Again, wrong, maybe you should know that Goldmont CPU is faster than Silvermont CPU
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldmont

Not in any real world application benchmark does it lose to a higher clocked Silvermont CPU
MEGAHURTZ isn't everything, you know

calm down turbo cia nigger
I do know that it's possible for a lower clock to beat an old architecture with faster clock rate
But the thing is the anandtech website doesn't feature J4205 benchmark

Lower clocks don't always mean better abd for atom all of them are shit anyway lol.
they are the P4 of the industry and funny enough have that same score as the P4 HT 3.0GHz but that is just because more cores.
More less cores = Higher clocks
=
More cores = Less clocks
more or less.
and yes clock speed still maters just not as much as it did on a single core.

Are you stupid or just plain retarded?
P4 power consumption is at least 10x higher than Apollo Lake
