If you get one of the 800MHz/1GB of RAM laptops you can install Debian with Openbox and have a nice little shitposting machine to show off on /g/ and do some programming on. You can dual boot with PowerPC OS X and run some cool games.

Mac OS 9 sucks ass as a day to day OS though. If you're just nostalgic for it then run it in an emulator like Sheepshaver or QEMU.

Not really. I've had one for years with tiger and you can't really do anything that a modern user would need. Maybe use iTunes to make it a speaker. I've kept it though because they're so beautiful. I wish apple would do a throwback iMac or something with the colorful designs.

I've got one o' those fruity 'puters. Play some old games on it like Warcraft 2, Starcraft, and EV Nova. Linux works okay, but video acceleration has never been implemented for the ati mach64 chip (possibly in an unmerged branch) so no DVD playback. I left MacOS9 on it for DVDs.

if its a slot loader you can overclocking by bridging a few points on the logic board. up to like 1ghz. and they run freebsd real well. but they are also fun to install tiger (10.4 os x) and play games like total anihilation and myst.

There's a ton of abandonware at macintoshgarden.org. Some of it would certainly be useful if you needed the functionality at zero cost: Mathematica, publishing software, CAD, etc.
